[00:00:00] Speaker A: Hello, friends, and welcome to another single serving adventure from Queen's Court Games. I'm Aubrey, and tonight we have a jaunt through the world of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. We'll be playing each year young, a scenario written for the Buffy the Vampire Slayer TTRPG by yours truly.
You can find more information about Buffy the Vampire Slayer and the game and everything by taking a look at the show notes.
Now, while this isn't a horror scenario per se, there are some topics that certain viewers might find uncomfortable or objectionable. You can get a list of these topics by checking our show notes. The cast has been briefed on these topics and has had QCG's safety tools at hand.
But make sure to keep yourself safe. Take breaks if you need them.
Well, now that that is all settled, let's meet our amazing cast for this evening.
First up, we have most likely to draw occult symbols in their latte, it's Saffron.
[00:01:02] Speaker B: Hello.
[00:01:04] Speaker A: Next up, we have Most likely to make a deal with a demon so they never have to sleep again, we have Dusty.
[00:01:10] Speaker C: Yes, that's me. As I take a sip of an energy drink.
[00:01:15] Speaker A: Most likely to realize the theater professor is a witch, it's Jen.
[00:01:19] Speaker D: Hi.
[00:01:21] Speaker A: And lastly, but not leastly, most likely to kiss A vampire is QCG's resident art czar and Queen of the Court Phi.
[00:01:30] Speaker E: That's me. Hi.
[00:01:34] Speaker A: Now that the cast has been introduced, let me tell you a story.
Well, last session, the crew got a little bit more information about what was going on.
Catriona got a phone call from an old contact. And then all of you got a little bit distracted by someone casting a truth spell in the middle of a college dorm that went horribly wrong.
Or horribly right, depending on how you take a look at it. You know, because college students should probably be more honest with each other.
[00:02:19] Speaker B: It was right for the story.
[00:02:22] Speaker A: That's true.
[00:02:23] Speaker D: Because plot.
[00:02:25] Speaker A: But it's been a little bit since that. It's been precisely two weeks.
The first two weeks of school, especially after that first day, have kind of flown by. There are things that have been happening and you've been working together. You've probably fought a couple of small, extremely small time monsters.
But tonight is the first chance that you have to breathe, per se, since that first day.
And we open in the griddle, a diner in this sleepy little beach town. Among the diner, the comic book store and the coffee shop are really the only places to hang out, especially in the off season. Um, so I guess my question is, have you all been here a while or are you just Arriving have. Did some of you, like, post up during the afternoon, try to get some work done and then just meet everyone else or also people just going to avoid it?
[00:03:38] Speaker C: Who would want to avoid the diner with your breath?
[00:03:41] Speaker D: I don't know exactly. I feel like I'm definitely the person that got there first, texted everyone to find out what they wanted and then made sure to have it waiting for them when they got here.
[00:03:52] Speaker C: Funnily enough, I think Paula was actually there in a different corner doing some work on their laptop, responded to your message, and then just walked around and pretended like they just got there.
[00:04:07] Speaker D: And absolutely incredible. And I just look up and I'm just like, how did you.
[00:04:13] Speaker C: You know I've been here the whole time.
No, I haven't. I've been here for, like three hours. I was doing work. But thank you for ordering. I. You know, when I'm in the zone, I don't like talking.
[00:04:25] Speaker D: So. Look, I heard this. I heard this weird thing. I. I personally don't get it. Apparently people like to dunk fries in PE in milkshakes, and I'm going to try it. If I don't like it, you're going to have to take either the fries or the milkshakes from. Or the milkshake from me.
[00:04:40] Speaker C: This is an easy deal.
Roll for milkshake.
[00:04:47] Speaker B: I've.
[00:04:49] Speaker D: I will roll. Wild card. I took a point in wild card.
[00:04:54] Speaker B: Wild card for milkshake.
I've probably been avoiding conversations with the group after the whole truth spell debacle.
So it would take a direct invitation to get me, like, to the griddle.
But, I mean, Ahri promising free food.
[00:05:33] Speaker D: I think. Well, free drinks, I think.
I think the invitation would have come in the form of me texting you, like, as part of the group chat, being like, Paulo, Jen, November, what do you want to drink?
And it was not so much an explicit invitation as it was an assumption that you are coming.
[00:06:04] Speaker C: At the table. I look at Ari and just. So who do you think is going to get here last?
[00:06:12] Speaker D: Well, my money's on either November or Jen.
[00:06:16] Speaker C: Yes, but who?
My. My five.
[00:06:20] Speaker D: Jen. I think Jen.
[00:06:21] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:06:23] Speaker C: Well, then, no, that's no funding out. Then I will choose November So someone gets $5.
[00:06:29] Speaker D: I.
We could just bet for bragging rights and we can both be right.
[00:06:34] Speaker C: That's no fun.
[00:06:38] Speaker D: Sure. Okay, then you can have November and I will have Jen.
[00:06:43] Speaker C: I quickly text November. Get your ass over here.
[00:06:50] Speaker A: Speaking of drink orders, what do you.
[00:06:52] Speaker D: What.
[00:06:53] Speaker A: What is your character's drink order?
[00:06:57] Speaker C: Well, Ari, you got a shake, right?
[00:07:01] Speaker D: I Did I got a milkshake and fries, mostly to try it. I am not so much a milkshake person, but I think after enough hedging and enough bullying from various people, I have finally decided to. All right, you know what? Screw it. It's a milkshake is like $8. I'll give it a try.
[00:07:18] Speaker A: Yeah. It's like, what kind of milkshake are we just eating? Plain vanilla, chocolate, strawberry.
[00:07:24] Speaker D: Hmm.
[00:07:25] Speaker A: Or are we going real weird with it?
[00:07:28] Speaker D: Oh, yeah, tell it. No, I think it'll be just your standard vanilla milkshake. Because even if I hate it, I will still have fries and a milkshake.
[00:07:39] Speaker A: That's true. Eat them separately rather than together.
[00:07:42] Speaker D: Or I can bully Paolo into taking one of them, because I don't know if I could comfortably eat both, eat fries and drink a milkshake, because milkshakes, from what I understand, are quite filling.
[00:07:52] Speaker A: So I think all that heavy cream, you know.
[00:07:55] Speaker D: Yeah. So either way, I will have a delicious treat, either savory or sweet. Who knows? It'll still be a treat.
[00:08:04] Speaker B: I have decided now on the spot that November really likes peanut butter, so. Peanut butter milkshake.
[00:08:11] Speaker A: Peanut butter milkshake.
[00:08:14] Speaker D: Okay. Is that a thing?
[00:08:16] Speaker B: Yeah, they're really good.
I Saffron, really like having.
My weird quirk is that I really like eating vanilla ice cream with peanut butter as, like, a topping. It's delicious. It's a really good.
[00:08:35] Speaker D: I. I hope you know that I will. I will be trying that at some point.
[00:08:39] Speaker B: Yeah.
So with Paulo texting, get your ass over here, I think I'm like, okay, I'm going.
Something, something, maybe something really urgent. They really urgently need me, and something's wrong. So.
[00:09:04] Speaker C: And then after that, I also text, Jen, get your ass over here. With two exclamation points.
[00:09:13] Speaker E: Yeah. So when that text comes in, I think Paulo is going to get the same response that Ari got from me, which is just red.
Because I've been avoiding the group as well, for reasons in fairness. It's not. I mean, it's not entirely fair to the group that I've been avoiding them, at least Ari and Paulo. But the problem is, if I avoid Ari and Paulo, then I can absolutely avoid November, which I have been trying to do for two weeks.
So it's just. It makes it a lot easier. And at this point, I'm still. Still not sure that I'm gonna go, but I feel like I should go. But I also, like, I saw that November responded, so I assume November's going, so I'm definitely Gonna be late if I do go.
[00:10:14] Speaker C: And then I send you another text that says, I got your favorite burger on me.
[00:10:20] Speaker E: Ah, see you.
[00:10:25] Speaker D: Double cheese with bacon.
[00:10:27] Speaker E: You can't go wrong. You cannot go wrong.
So I.
I don't.
I just respond, fine. Period.
And that hopefully is enough to let everybody know that I am, in fact, coming, however, begrudgingly.
[00:10:51] Speaker D: I'm coming, but I'm not happy about it.
Oh, you know, the full stop at the end is always just going to make me be like, oh, God. Oh, God, she's mad.
[00:11:00] Speaker C: She's always mad. It's fine.
She's mad. But with, like, you know, we're. She. We're. She's mad at us. Like, she's mad at her friends. Like, nice mad. Does that make sense?
[00:11:14] Speaker D: The two of us? Sure, yeah, I believe that.
I. I think they might be mad at November more on a slightly more personal level, but sure.
[00:11:30] Speaker C: Yeah, we should figure that out. Well, they should figure that out. We don't need to get involved.
[00:11:35] Speaker D: I didn't want to get involved, but then that truth spell happened and I just kind of. What?
[00:11:42] Speaker C: Yeah. So be right. I should have seen it coming.
[00:11:48] Speaker D: Well, anyway, I still think. I still think Jen's your last. And I will claim my bragging rights.
[00:11:55] Speaker C: You're probably right. That was my initial idea. So I'll just give you the $5 now.
[00:12:00] Speaker D: I don't. I don't want the $5. I just want bragging rights. And honestly, you get bragging rights too, because you also called it.
[00:12:09] Speaker C: Reverse pickpocket.
[00:12:12] Speaker A: Sure, let's. Let's do before I call the wrong skills prime.
Yep, we'll do a. We'll do a dexterity crime roll.
[00:12:25] Speaker C: Hell yeah. I love crime.
[00:12:28] Speaker A: And if I could have my two remaining scoop each, roll me just a D10 and tell me the number you get.
[00:12:35] Speaker C: Oh, so just my dexterity crime roll is 15 total?
[00:12:43] Speaker A: Yeah. That's like, what, three levels of success?
[00:12:45] Speaker D: At least four. That is. That is a very good success.
[00:12:50] Speaker A: So, ari, you'll find $5 in your pocket at some point later tonight.
[00:12:54] Speaker D: And I will absolutely attribute it to me just not realizing I had $5 in my pocket. And we will continue on. None the wiser.
[00:13:00] Speaker A: Exactly.
[00:13:03] Speaker B: I rolled a seven.
[00:13:08] Speaker A: What did you roll, Jen?
[00:13:12] Speaker E: Four.
[00:13:14] Speaker A: So November shows up first.
[00:13:22] Speaker B: I come in. I've got my across the shoulder messenger bag.
Look around, just see Paolo and Ari. Okay. Okay, I'll come. I'll come over.
Is there a big a break in the case?
[00:13:51] Speaker C: Oh, no, your shake was melting.
[00:13:56] Speaker B: Oh.
[00:13:59] Speaker D: And I just hand you Just like this mildly soggy shake.
[00:14:06] Speaker C: By the way, I'm drinking.
Balo's drink of choice is coffee. Iced coffee, half mixed with orange juice.
[00:14:21] Speaker D: Yeah, I'm sorry, guys. Actually, the minute I see that, I get up and leave.
[00:14:26] Speaker A: You know what? That's valid.
[00:14:28] Speaker D: There are some things that are simply an affront to humanity. Dead, alive, or undead.
[00:14:34] Speaker B: And I thought I was the demon.
[00:14:40] Speaker D: Well, knowing that now, I just look at November, I look at Paulo's drink, and I just mouth to November, do something.
[00:14:52] Speaker B: I take the drippy milkshake from Ari and I just go, everyone's. Everyone's, you know, Actinol.
Extra, extra chummy. I guess we're.
We.
Everything's just fine.
[00:15:34] Speaker D: We could use a pick me up. It's been two weeks. We haven't had a real break.
You and Jen are doing whatever you and Jen are doing. Paulo's drinking orange juice, coffee. It's. It's been a rough day.
[00:15:47] Speaker C: Yeah, it's. It's so. It's good. Why. Why are you.
[00:15:53] Speaker D: I.
Nope, not gonna go near that.
[00:16:00] Speaker C: Listen, I've been busy too.
Like, I've been trying to look more into this. It's kind of been coming up to a dead end. I've got some really weird clients lately.
That so.
[00:16:15] Speaker D: Because of your orange juice coffee?
[00:16:17] Speaker C: No, they don't know about that.
I. I don't. I don't have lunch with my clients unless they're paying.
[00:16:29] Speaker B: I think I've been actively avoiding getting a good night's sleep to try to avoid dreams, so.
[00:16:41] Speaker A: I don't know why you would ever do that.
[00:16:45] Speaker D: All you gotta do is wake yourself up before you hit rem. Easy peasy.
[00:16:50] Speaker A: Exactly.
You know, just.
[00:16:53] Speaker D: Just avoid the most restful part of sleep and you'll be fine.
[00:16:57] Speaker A: Yeah. Set a timer for like every 90 minutes or something. And just.
[00:17:02] Speaker B: So, yeah, you probably would notice that November kind of always looks exhausted, but. Looks.
I look even more exhausted than usual.
[00:17:17] Speaker D: Am I just bringing you five hour energies or like.
[00:17:21] Speaker B: Yeah, so what I'm hearing.
[00:17:24] Speaker D: So what I'm hearing is I've been stalking five hour energies in my backpack for you.
And like, every now and then, like, if I like, catch your eye across the quad, I'll just like, lob one at you.
[00:17:36] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, I'll sit down and just go, Ari, I've never asked. Do you just, like, have a, like, savings account just to buy us snacks?
[00:17:58] Speaker D: So I have a. I have a Fiverr account. I use the proceeds from that to buy us snacks. Yes.
[00:18:04] Speaker C: Do you do on Fiverr?
[00:18:07] Speaker D: I Lift things.
Okay, people need to have your lifting done. I go and do the heavy lifting. For five, ten bucks, it goes into the PayPal account, the Team PayPal account. We do have. We do have a Team PayPal account, by the way.
[00:18:21] Speaker C: Yes.
[00:18:21] Speaker D: And I just use that to do our snacks.
[00:18:25] Speaker C: I look at. We have a team. Do you know about this?
[00:18:28] Speaker A: Oh, it's really smart move, though.
[00:18:34] Speaker D: A cat walks across the diner table.
[00:18:37] Speaker C: Oh, no, it's cat.
[00:18:39] Speaker B: There's cats everywhere in this town.
[00:18:42] Speaker A: Surprising number of cats.
[00:18:44] Speaker B: We're probably going to find out there's some like cat king or something that's in charge of all of them.
[00:18:50] Speaker A: I mean, you know what they say, cats, you know, something, something, gatekeepers of the underworld, something, something.
[00:18:57] Speaker C: And they're so cute.
[00:18:59] Speaker A: Attracted to death, something, something.
And Jen, you walk into the diner at this time and when Jen, when you walk into the diner, all of your phones go off with a text message.
[00:19:19] Speaker E: Immediately. Look at my phone.
[00:19:21] Speaker A: Yeah, it's in the sort of. It's in your all. Massive group chat. It is from Catriona, saying, headed out of town for the night, down to Newark to pick up Gideon from the airport.
Let me know if anything happens.
You would know a little bit about this. Gideon. Gideon Post is bringing you all some of the first Slayer's, you know, effects for to take a look at, see if you can pull anything from and whatever information he has as well.
[00:20:01] Speaker D: I think I.
I feel like Jen is more like the thumbs up emoji kind of person and I'm more of the let us know if he's secretly a demon and then glancing over at November. Sorry.
[00:20:13] Speaker B: Oh, you wouldn't. I mean, you wouldn't know about.
[00:20:17] Speaker D: Right.
[00:20:17] Speaker B: I still haven't told anyone.
[00:20:19] Speaker D: Oh, crap. That's right.
[00:20:20] Speaker A: I mean, you do have slayer sense. So you're just like, november's weird.
[00:20:25] Speaker D: November's weird.
[00:20:27] Speaker C: To be fair, I could point at November and say that that's true.
[00:20:31] Speaker D: Yeah, well, of course. As team psychic would.
[00:20:35] Speaker C: Yeah, clearly.
[00:20:36] Speaker A: Clearly.
So what is. What is Jen's drink of choice?
[00:20:46] Speaker E: Arnold Palmer, heavy on the lemon.
[00:20:49] Speaker C: And what's your favorite burger that I already got for you?
[00:20:54] Speaker E: I. I mean, Ari called it a double cheese burger with bacon. Right? Yeah, you gotta. You gotta have all that protein, you know, it keeps you. Keeps you going.
[00:21:04] Speaker D: But very important question. Is Jen a Put the. Put avocado on the burger person or is Jen a don't touch me with an avocado ever in my life?
[00:21:14] Speaker E: Oh, I think she's actually kind of indifferent to avocado. She doesn't, like. I don't seek it out. I don't, like, go crazy for it. But, like, if it's on a burger that I want to eat, like, they're not going to refund me for taking it off, so I'm just going to get it and eat it, I guess.
I'm not an avocado toast person, though.
[00:21:38] Speaker D: Well, that's why you can afford a house one day.
[00:21:42] Speaker E: True story. That and the fact that you buy us drinks.
That's, you know, that helps.
[00:21:48] Speaker C: Oh, and then when Jen comes over, because I make them come over to the table.
Do you know we have a Team PayPal account?
[00:21:57] Speaker E: What?
Since when?
[00:22:01] Speaker D: Since three months after we came together as a team.
And we. Remember that road trip that we went on to find that one monster. I think it was one of the bigger vampires closer up to the city. And we got to that gas station, we were like, oh, man, if only we had the money. Yeah, I said it after that because, let me tell you, doing that, like, splitting the money thing, it wasn't working now, so it just. I just figured it'd be easier if we just had like a. A group fund.
[00:22:31] Speaker C: Well, you need. Well, if you don't.
[00:22:32] Speaker E: I mean, that's really smart, putting money.
[00:22:34] Speaker C: In the group fund.
[00:22:36] Speaker D: Oh, I'm not. Every time someone pays me back for something, it goes into the group fund.
[00:22:42] Speaker C: Oh, wait, make sure to put $5 in there.
[00:22:46] Speaker E: But wait, if people pay you back and then you put the money that people pay you back into the group fund, that's still your money?
[00:22:52] Speaker D: Well, yes, but I. I did it with the ass. In the beginning, I was. I was buying people's things with the assumption of not getting paid back. So really, it. You know.
[00:23:02] Speaker E: So it is all, in fact, your money is what we're finding out?
[00:23:06] Speaker A: Well, yes and no.
[00:23:10] Speaker D: Yes and no.
[00:23:11] Speaker E: Okay, great, great. Now, really important question, just so I know. What's the seating arrangement look like right now?
[00:23:22] Speaker A: I do imagine this is like one of those big circular booths.
[00:23:26] Speaker D: Probably.
I think Paulo and I are probably.
I think Paul and I are probably, like, deep in it because we were here first.
You would likely end up stuck next to November in some form.
[00:23:39] Speaker C: Or opposite.
[00:23:40] Speaker B: We could.
[00:23:40] Speaker A: Or opposite.
[00:23:41] Speaker D: Yeah, yeah, yeah. There really is no. There really is no good arrangement here in which. In which you are comfortable. You are either next to each other or you were across from each other during the uncomfortable eye contact.
[00:23:51] Speaker A: Staring. Just staring into those eyes.
[00:23:55] Speaker B: Yeah, I think. I think I'm on, like, the innermost edge. Not like inner, but like Furthest from the door. So I watched you come in, you know, so uncomfortable.
[00:24:09] Speaker E: That's not uncomfortable at all. This is great.
Yeah. Okay, so then. So the, the spot across from you is open then, is what you're saying? Great.
Well, then I, you know, I kind of just give a little. A little wave and then take a seat.
Yeah. So how. How's everybody been?
[00:24:41] Speaker B: You know, busy with school.
[00:24:47] Speaker E: Yeah, yeah, me too. Really, really, really busy. You know, trying to focus on.
On schoolwork this semester.
[00:24:59] Speaker A: Yeah, that econ class has been killer. Literally.
[00:25:02] Speaker E: Yeah, it's. It's really hard. It's really, really hard.
[00:25:07] Speaker B: Did they. Did they find a replacement for that?
You know that after we dispatched robot professor.
[00:25:21] Speaker E: Right now, it's. It's kind of this, like, interim. Like she's. She's. She's a graduate student, so like. But she's not super comfortable with teaching, and it's like, really obvious that she's not the greatest at it.
I don't know what she wants to do post grad, but, you know, I don't think she should be a teacher.
[00:25:44] Speaker D: Is it one of those professors that, like, stands facing the board and mumbles as they write on the board so no one can hear them?
[00:25:52] Speaker E: She does a little bit of that. And then when people are like, we can't hear you, then like, she kind of like, overcompensates and is just like, really, like, she's not like, doing anything on purpose. Like, it's not malicious. It's just like she's very obviously uncomfortable teaching a group of people.
[00:26:11] Speaker C: I still think we should have let the robot teacher stay. Like, they just wanted all the batteries in all the. In the other country could have made it work. Probably.
[00:26:19] Speaker E: No, I don't think we could have because so many of the things that I like in this world require batteries. That was not what I wanted to say, but here we are.
[00:26:31] Speaker D: Well, Jen, I am very glad that you have the use of batteries for the things that you like in this world.
[00:26:37] Speaker A: Battery operated things.
[00:26:39] Speaker D: Battery operated things like, you know, smoke detectors.
[00:26:43] Speaker E: Yep, Yep.
[00:26:45] Speaker C: That's.
[00:26:45] Speaker E: That's.
[00:26:46] Speaker D: And yep.
[00:26:50] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:26:51] Speaker C: Flashlights.
[00:26:51] Speaker A: Smoke detectors, flashlights.
[00:26:53] Speaker E: That's my phone. My phone uses a battery.
[00:26:56] Speaker D: It detectively does use lithium ion too.
[00:27:00] Speaker E: I. I just kind of assumed any and all sources of power. Okay. Okay.
[00:27:04] Speaker C: I can't go for the hospital first. You're right.
[00:27:07] Speaker D: I mean, depending on who you and what sorts of power you're talking about, that could also include people, so.
[00:27:11] Speaker A: You know what?
[00:27:11] Speaker D: That's fair.
[00:27:13] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:27:13] Speaker E: See, just matrix with it as we.
[00:27:16] Speaker D: As we've also established from this. And I kind of glance around to see to make sure no one's listening to us too closely. Granted, the things that we're dealing with right now.
[00:27:28] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:27:29] Speaker E: Yeah.
[00:27:33] Speaker A: Also speaking of what is everyone else's, like, food order?
We got, like, two of them. We got the fries and milkshake. We've got the bacon cheeseburger. Paolo. November, what are your food orders?
[00:27:43] Speaker B: November hasn't ordered any food.
[00:27:47] Speaker A: Oh. Your food will be brought to you because the people who run this place know all of you and you've been here for a while.
They will bring you your favorites.
[00:27:55] Speaker B: I don't think November usually, like. I don't know.
[00:27:58] Speaker D: Maybe I.
Oh, do you eat something other than food?
[00:28:02] Speaker A: Do you?
Dead.
[00:28:06] Speaker D: Wait. No, no, no, no, no.
[00:28:08] Speaker B: I.
[00:28:16] Speaker E: Well, where is my.
[00:28:17] Speaker D: I gotta go.
[00:28:18] Speaker E: I need to.
[00:28:20] Speaker D: It's been a great game, guys. I gotta go.
[00:28:24] Speaker E: So fun. So fun. So much fun.
[00:28:27] Speaker D: Right back on the plane. Bye, guys.
[00:28:32] Speaker A: So, I. Yeah, Paulo, what's your order?
[00:28:36] Speaker C: I've already shown off that I have weird food tastes.
[00:28:41] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:28:41] Speaker C: So I specifically asked. Not for French fries, they asked for. I call them jojo potatoes, but they're kind of like the potato wedges that are seasoned and they kind of, like, fried up. I order a side of those and a side of tomato soup, and I dip the potatoes in the cheesy tomato soup.
[00:29:02] Speaker D: That's the most normal thing you've had to eat all night.
[00:29:05] Speaker C: Exactly.
[00:29:05] Speaker E: That's actually very true. Yeah.
[00:29:07] Speaker D: Actually, it's kind of delicious. I kind of want to try it.
[00:29:11] Speaker C: No, they just, like. It's crunchy, it's warm, it's cozy.
It goes great with my coffee.
[00:29:22] Speaker A: Yeah. This restaurant is run by two very friendly old gay men. So, you know.
[00:29:30] Speaker E: We love it.
[00:29:32] Speaker A: They definitely want to make sure everybody's having a great time, you know, has whatever they want.
[00:29:36] Speaker B: So if I was being, like, passive aggressive and spiteful, I might just order avocado, but I don't think I'm gonna do that.
[00:29:53] Speaker C: You just get an avocado.
[00:29:55] Speaker B: It's just one sliced avocado.
Sliced avocado by itself.
[00:30:00] Speaker D: Not you calling me out as a person. Jesus.
[00:30:03] Speaker E: I. No, I mean, I like the idea of you just, like, getting, like, avocado toast and then just, like, kind of being like, this is a thing that I never. You know. No, I don't. I don't. I didn't ever get to have.
We always had to have something else.
[00:30:18] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:30:18] Speaker B: But November, I'm not that, like.
[00:30:24] Speaker E: I'm not.
[00:30:24] Speaker B: I'm not that confrontational.
[00:30:27] Speaker E: That's fair.
[00:30:28] Speaker B: I have been avoiding you for two weeks. So I think it's. It's just trying to keep the lowest profile possible at this diner that all are friends asked us to be at.
[00:30:43] Speaker C: Amidst my eating, I just start talking Like, I have my laptop open while I'm doing this. I'm just like, I've had. I was telling Ari I had the weirdest clients this week. I had this DJ that keeps trying to hit me up on my website, and he keeps trying to ask me to figure out where the best place to do a set is at. And my psychic powers can only do so much.
Their. Their name is like DJ Fish Face.
They're not. They're not that good.
[00:31:18] Speaker E: With the name. Like Fish Face.
[00:31:22] Speaker C: Dj. The DJ is very important. DJ Fish Face.
[00:31:27] Speaker E: Is his name like. Like first name dj, last name Fish Face? Or is it like a stage name?
[00:31:33] Speaker C: It's a stage name. I know his first name. He doesn't know I know his first name. But it's, you know, it's. You know, they. They're doing it for their business. I told them all the best places. Apparently the first one was better than the last set he's had, which is wild because it was at a local park. But it worked out.
Oh, no. He's sending me another message.
Oh, no.
[00:32:05] Speaker A: Well, well, you brought food. And, you know, kind of continue this conversation for a little bit, and eventually you all hear the sound of the.
The door opening for the restaurant and probably just kind of look up just sort of in people who have been attacked before and are kind of slightly still paranoid at all times.
At least the two slayers will look up immediately at the sound of the door opening.
I don't know about everyone else, but the two slayers will see a familiar form standing in the door, kind of stretching and looking around. You'll see Desmond the vampire as he's sort of like scanning the restaurant, and he gets immediately distracted by one of the owners because he came here a lot as well, and they recognize him. And so one of them just comes over and starts talking to him, seeing how he's been. Do any of you do anything real quick before anything else happens?
[00:33:20] Speaker E: I would actually.
No, I would actually reach over and I would grab one of Ari's fries and I would actually chuck it at his head.
[00:33:31] Speaker A: Okay, I see this.
[00:33:33] Speaker D: I immediately shift my fries to where you're sitting so that it's very obvious that the fry came from you and not from me.
[00:33:41] Speaker A: Give me a.
Let's do a strength doubled Score.
[00:33:49] Speaker E: Ooh. Okay, then. That is a 22 for extraordinary beam.
[00:33:58] Speaker A: This vampire in the side of the face with a French fry. You throw it so hard, it, like, crumples against his face.
[00:34:05] Speaker D: Guess that's why you call. I guess that's why they call you a vampire slayer. Damn.
[00:34:10] Speaker E: Yep. Damn straight.
[00:34:12] Speaker A: Yeah. And.
[00:34:17] Speaker E: True.
[00:34:18] Speaker A: He looks around, seeing this, and just goes, nice shot.
And yeah, he's just like, yeah, just bring usual, whatever. It's fine. And he is going to saunter on over, and if somebody lets him sit, he will sit, and if not, he will just stand and look at all of you.
So it's up to you if you decide which one. Which one is more awkward.
[00:34:49] Speaker D: I'm right in the middle of the thing, so I can't move.
[00:34:52] Speaker B: Yeah, I'm. I am not gonna scooch over. I will not let Desmond sit down.
I do not know how I feel about Desmond.
[00:35:03] Speaker E: I. Oh, okay. You know what? Let me.
Let me do this.
Somebody call high or low?
[00:35:12] Speaker D: Low.
[00:35:14] Speaker E: No, I. I don't let Desmond sit. I kind of, like, turn my body so my legs are kind of like dangling outside side of the booth, and I just like, you know, kind of like lean back a little bit. I'm sitting next to Ari, so I kind of like lean back against Ari's shoulder and I just say, hey, Desmond, what's up?
[00:35:39] Speaker A: Actually looking for Molly. Chuckle fucks. And he reaches over and grabs, like, a chair from, like, one of the nearby tables, drags it over, turns it around, and, like, sits on it.
[00:35:50] Speaker D: Oh, no, not the reverse sit.
[00:35:52] Speaker E: Yep, of course it is.
[00:35:55] Speaker A: Of course.
Well, Jen, you did ask me for a favor and took me a little longer to get the info, but got info for you and, you know, back in town, wanted to check in with my favorite group of people who. Who don't murder me, so.
[00:36:16] Speaker E: Well, you know, we do what we can and I'll swing my legs back into the booth and kind of like push plates in towards the center of the table, anticipating that Desmond may actually have, like, a paper or something to give instead of just like, verbally spatting information at us. Whether or not that's true.
[00:36:37] Speaker A: Yeah.
Reaching and to his leather jacket, he grabs a folded piece of paper and is going to push it across to the center of the table. I'm saying the person who.
The mortician who looked at the second body, I believe, owed me a favor, so I cashed that in for the coroner's report.
He also is a little strange and told me some other information that's not in that report.
You know.
[00:37:19] Speaker C: Anything spicy.
[00:37:22] Speaker A: You know how, like.
How do I put this?
People have, like an energy.
Yeah, it was like somebody sucked her dry of that energy along with eating the heart.
[00:37:46] Speaker D: Oh, quite a lead with that.
[00:37:48] Speaker C: I. I look at the slayers. Is that normal? Is that.
[00:37:51] Speaker D: No, no. Now, when you say sucking her dry, do you mean in the vampire style or simply in the.
[00:37:59] Speaker A: Oh, there was a lot of blood.
[00:38:01] Speaker D: Okay. Okay.
[00:38:05] Speaker A: You know, like the energies a person has, you know, here's the.
[00:38:09] Speaker D: The aura.
[00:38:10] Speaker A: The aura, you know, witchy shit. I don't know. I just drink blood.
[00:38:15] Speaker D: Any chance there's an altar involved?
[00:38:20] Speaker A: It certainly, from what the person said, looked like some sort of ritual. Set up, candles, weird shit drawn in the ground, you know, all that stuff. Kind of ritual. Circle drawn in blood.
[00:38:38] Speaker E: Awesome.
[00:38:41] Speaker B: More details about the ritual could give us a better pinpoint of the kind of magic they're tapping into.
[00:38:51] Speaker A: Yeah, I mean, I can see if you can get me any more information, but there's some stuff in the coroner's report as well. I don't know, you might find interesting.
[00:39:07] Speaker D: Has he given us a copy of the coroner's report?
[00:39:10] Speaker A: Yes, it's like. It's in the. It's folded up in, like, the middle of the table.
[00:39:13] Speaker D: Yeah, I'm definitely just gonna, like, pick it up and take a look. Right in the middle of this diner.
[00:39:20] Speaker C: I am looking over your shoulder, just scanning everything.
Anything besides an eaten heart.
Anything else?
[00:39:33] Speaker D: Anything.
[00:39:34] Speaker E: When Paula, When Paulo says that, at the volume that they say it at, I'm just gonna, like, kick under the table. Just be like, bruh.
[00:39:45] Speaker C: Hearts are very good in tacos. I don't know why you're overreacting.
[00:39:50] Speaker D: Do you often. Whatever.
[00:39:53] Speaker A: Give me an intelligence, Dr. Raul?
[00:39:57] Speaker D: Me?
[00:39:57] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:39:58] Speaker D: Oh, beans. Oh, well, I don't have anything and doctor says just intelligence for me today.
[00:40:03] Speaker E: Yeah, you're the. You're the one who's written it.
[00:40:06] Speaker D: Oh, yeah, that's. That's a six.
[00:40:12] Speaker C: Wow. They sure are dead.
[00:40:16] Speaker A: Yep. You've never looked at a coroner's report before? And you're like, what does any of this mean? This also appears to be written. This person did not write their handwriting.
[00:40:25] Speaker D: I was gonna say. You know what happens? It's the doctor handwriting that gets to me.
[00:40:28] Speaker A: It's the doctor handwriting.
[00:40:29] Speaker E: You're just like, is that the eggplant?
[00:40:34] Speaker D: And I just hand it to whoever reaches for it. Because I. I have looked at this. I have done my best. I have this. This is not my specialty.
[00:40:44] Speaker B: I will.
[00:40:44] Speaker E: It's not my specialty either.
[00:40:48] Speaker B: Unless Paolo's giving it a read. I, I might take it and give it a glance.
[00:40:54] Speaker C: I, I think I will like take it Wednesday. I see Ari's look of just like the 50 yard stare through the paper.
[00:41:04] Speaker D: Absolute confusion. Just like the eyes glazed over and.
[00:41:08] Speaker C: Kind of like, like have it between us as I'm flipping through.
I don't, I don't have doctor.
[00:41:17] Speaker A: Yeah, just give me like a.
[00:41:20] Speaker B: Well, I don't have doctor, but I do have knowledge. Could my. Any knowledge that I have from my family being funeral home direct.
[00:41:28] Speaker A: Yeah, you. You can, yeah, you can add that.
[00:41:31] Speaker E: Cool.
[00:41:31] Speaker A: Yeah.
Paulo, if you just want to give me like an intelligence roll.
[00:41:35] Speaker C: Yeah, I have knowledge as well just from being a nerd.
[00:41:39] Speaker B: Well, that's an eight. I rolled really low.
[00:41:46] Speaker A: So any of you want to spend a drama plate.
[00:41:51] Speaker B: Hold up.
[00:41:52] Speaker D: Does the drama point bump it up by a certain number or does it bump it up from a failure twist? Ah.
[00:41:58] Speaker B: Oh then yes, I will spend a drama point.
[00:42:03] Speaker C: I got a six as well.
[00:42:06] Speaker A: What? Okay.
[00:42:08] Speaker D: The gods hate us today. The gods just you all.
[00:42:12] Speaker A: So that bumps it up to what, an 18 and that's excellent success again. Yeah, that's excellent.
So it takes you a minute to like unravel the, the handwriting of all of this and you, you eventually do that and it.
This person clearly was affected by the. Just the brutality of this. The signs of.
The signs of cannibalism and the heart being missing. The signs of it being eaten. The heart was.
Did appear to be torn out of the body and there was a strange kind of drug in her system at the time. The coroner could not identify what it was.
[00:43:14] Speaker D: Did it have a chemical formula on it perhaps?
[00:43:21] Speaker A: Yeah, it does, but it's kind of like it. It had kind of corroded slightly. So it was. You were rough like an idea. It. It was thinking it was some sort of thing to suppress something especially.
[00:43:40] Speaker B: Oh God. Yeah. They sedated her.
[00:43:46] Speaker D: I mean interesting. But wouldn't, but wouldn't a medical office know what kind of sedation it was? Sedation is not uncommon. Right?
[00:43:57] Speaker C: It. It could depend like I seen. So I. My second cousin's uncle works in pharmacy and so they, they, you know that. And I watched Dr. Motel and looking at like all this stuff. Sometimes it doesn't last in the system if they take it at certain point. Also it could be easily confused for something like an anti anxiety med or something like that.
[00:44:24] Speaker D: Gorgeous, I suppose. But a common sedative. They would know what it looks like as it decays in the body.
[00:44:31] Speaker C: Right Then this must not be a common one.
[00:44:35] Speaker B: Or more pointing to the fact she was likely a slayer.
[00:44:39] Speaker D: Right.
[00:44:42] Speaker C: Okay.
[00:44:43] Speaker D: Director, I have a question.
[00:44:45] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:44:46] Speaker D: Are we aware of the 18 year old thing with the slayers?
[00:44:50] Speaker A: I don't think so. Because currently the way the Watcher Council works is.
[00:44:56] Speaker D: It doesn't.
[00:44:57] Speaker A: Yeah, it kind of doesn't. Yeah. The Watchers. The way the Watchers Council exists anymore is. It barely exists. It's a bunch of people who weren't supposed to be Watchers. A bunch of researchers and a cult.
[00:45:07] Speaker D: Because all the fucking Watchers died.
[00:45:09] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:45:10] Speaker D: They're like.
[00:45:10] Speaker A: Well, somebody has to kind of at least guide slayers.
[00:45:13] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:45:15] Speaker C: So the Watchers are like the Jedi. Just shittier somehow.
[00:45:20] Speaker D: Shitting a different way.
[00:45:21] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:45:22] Speaker A: Shitting a different way somehow. It's like the Jedi Council. Yeah.
[00:45:26] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:45:27] Speaker C: But.
[00:45:27] Speaker B: But yeah.
[00:45:28] Speaker D: Anyway.
[00:45:29] Speaker E: Anyway.
[00:45:29] Speaker C: Yeah. And like if it's an uncommon sedation. I mean assuming that this is the same kind of like benzos or something like that to sedate someone mentally.
I think.
[00:45:42] Speaker D: I guess I'm wondering if it's some kind of sedation for like if someone were to try and like do this to like a witch. Like a way to keep her from using her powers.
[00:45:59] Speaker B: Regardless.
[00:46:00] Speaker D: It may be some kind of supernatural kind of thing. So we should definitely do some research in the non medical side of things.
[00:46:08] Speaker C: Is there? I guess you should look into the books. I imagine y'all have books on like. And I want to lower my voice. Like, like potions or some. Is that what you call it? Potions?
[00:46:20] Speaker D: Catriana has books on the imaginal properties of snail slime. She'll have.
[00:46:25] Speaker C: Oh, fascinating. Fascinating.
Okay.
[00:46:29] Speaker D: I mean 20 minutes lectures.
[00:46:31] Speaker A: 20 minutes.
[00:46:33] Speaker C: Nice.
[00:46:36] Speaker B: My thought is that if we're able to find out what this substance is, it could be something that was made and brewed like a potion. But it could be something that was also purchased and purchasing of those ingredients.
Or that the substance itself could potentially be a way to track these individuals.
Though I know magic.
Magic supply shops don't usually.
[00:47:15] Speaker E: Right.
[00:47:15] Speaker B: Have card.
[00:47:19] Speaker D: Would we.
[00:47:20] Speaker B: Identification.
Yeah.
[00:47:24] Speaker D: Like is there like a Magic Box version or like a Joy Z alternative to the Magic Box?
[00:47:29] Speaker C: Wait, isn't there one. Isn't there one in the city? Like an apothecary? Quote unquote.
[00:47:35] Speaker A: But yes, there is a. There is like something. Something esoterica store in the.
The. The city. You. You're aware it's. It's run by a woman named Bridget who's a little spacey sometimes she really gets into the New age part.
[00:47:55] Speaker C: I see.
[00:47:56] Speaker D: Well, I mean, you have to if you gotta cater to the normal people too.
[00:47:59] Speaker C: Yeah, well, I feel like we should probably look into this. They're probably still open, right? Esoteric.
[00:48:06] Speaker D: I'm not leaving until my milkshake is done.
Is Desmond still here?
[00:48:12] Speaker A: Yes.
He's had food has been brought for him and he's starting to eat.
[00:48:20] Speaker D: So I think, what happens, I just be like, okay, Desmond, you. And I realize that he's now eating. Never mind.
[00:48:28] Speaker A: I mean, hey, it's been. It's been a while since I had this plate of food from this place.
[00:48:32] Speaker D: Okay.
[00:48:34] Speaker A: It's really good food.
[00:48:37] Speaker D: Not very nutritious, though.
[00:48:38] Speaker A: Perhaps that's not really the thing I have to worry about anymore.
[00:48:42] Speaker C: Ari, you're eating a shake and fries.
[00:48:46] Speaker D: I was told that I had to try it once in my life, and tonight seemed as good a time as any.
[00:48:51] Speaker C: Not very nutritious, though.
[00:48:54] Speaker D: I'll pick up a few slices of avocado. Avocado.
From November's plate. And just, like, looking you directly in the eye, dip an avocado in my milkshake.
Just.
[00:49:12] Speaker C: See, I told you that wouldn't be that bad.
[00:49:15] Speaker D: And I look at you and you can just. A little bit of pain in my eyes. That was awful.
[00:49:21] Speaker C: We need to work on your taste buds.
[00:49:25] Speaker D: Orange juice, coffee?
[00:49:27] Speaker C: Yeah, no, it's delicious. It's not bitter. It cuts out all the bitterness. I could chug this.
[00:49:33] Speaker D: That's what milk is for. Ew.
[00:49:37] Speaker C: Disgusting.
[00:49:40] Speaker A: And you say I'm the weird one.
[00:49:52] Speaker D: As long as it's not battery operated.
[00:49:56] Speaker C: So I'm gonna look at both November and Jen. Do you think we should look into this tonight until. Are you all busy? Something we could all do together?
[00:50:10] Speaker A: Yeah, the whole squad gathered together again.
[00:50:18] Speaker E: Yeah. You know, if.
If everybody is available, we might as. I mean, we're all. We're all here together now, so might as well, right? Yeah.
[00:50:35] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah, yeah. See, I already. I have your schedule, so I already knew you two were free, so you had to come along anyways.
[00:50:43] Speaker A: Well, it's because you're psychic and you know all these things.
[00:50:46] Speaker C: Exactly. I psychically solve these things.
[00:50:47] Speaker D: It's definitely. It's definitely not the synced Google calendar that we all have.
[00:51:01] Speaker C: We go to Catriana's. Or the esoteric come first?
[00:51:04] Speaker B: Well, Catriona's getting Gideon.
[00:51:07] Speaker D: Yeah, how did. Did she mention her ETA back home? Or was it just kind of like, I'll be back when I'm back?
[00:51:14] Speaker A: It was kind of sometime tonight. And you all. You both have a key to her apartment. Just in case you need to do anything while she's away or busy or anything.
Yeah, that's where she keeps. All of the real occult stuff is in her apartment.
[00:51:29] Speaker D: I bet she regretted that when Ari had the first idea for a surprise birthday party anyway.
[00:51:33] Speaker A: Yeah, probably.
[00:51:35] Speaker D: I definitely. Probably had Mikey confiscated for a little while after that.
I'm thinking maybe the shop first, because we don't know when they'll get back, depending on traffic, depending on so many things.
And I think she'll be more likely to be able to help us if we come back with something to give her and this Mr. Post and, you know, like, at least she's got someone to keep her posted.
[00:52:10] Speaker C: Sounds good to me.
[00:52:16] Speaker B: I will finish my shake and I guess. Let's go.
[00:52:25] Speaker E: I'm nowhere near done with my burger, but that's okay because I will just grab a napkin and just, like, wrap it up and. And take it with me and, like, eat it, like, on the way.
[00:52:38] Speaker D: I think I. I don't quite finish my shake by the time we're ready to head out, but as I am seeing everyone start to pack up, I absolutely chug it, proceed to get brain freeze, and then whine about it for approximately 10 seconds. And then I'm good.
[00:52:52] Speaker A: Tracks. Tracks.
[00:52:54] Speaker E: I do. For what it's worth, I do ask if Desmond wants to come along, because if nothing else, secretly, I hope he says yes, because then I can pay attention to him instead of, can I.
[00:53:05] Speaker D: Make a face about it.
[00:53:07] Speaker E: Yeah, of course.
That tracks.
[00:53:11] Speaker A: Yeah. I mean, he will, of course agree.
You know, he's just like, I got nothing else going on.
[00:53:21] Speaker E: Awesome. Fantastic. And I will, you know, I'll slide out of the booth, burger in hand, and kind of like grab him by the arm and lift him up, and we will head out of the griddle first.
[00:53:36] Speaker A: Yep. Someone leaves tip money behind. Tip, tip behind for the people who run it, you know?
[00:53:44] Speaker E: Ari does, yes. She's the one with the fucking PayPal account access.
[00:53:49] Speaker A: This is true.
So, yeah, you do. And the great part about, you know, a lot of the sort of where everything is in the. In town is a lot of it is within walking distance of other things. And, you know, it's college town and it's this early September night. You know, it's just starting to get cool in the way where, you know, you're like, well, maybe I should bring a jacket.
As you start to sort of trek across this sort of town square towards where this esoteric shop is.
Got a couple of minutes walking.
[00:54:33] Speaker C: I would like to lean, like, stay A little back with specifically November. And just look at them like. So you.
You're clearly something's wrong. Clearly. I know that something's wrong, but. How are you doing?
[00:54:59] Speaker B: You know, Jen and I haven't really talked.
[00:55:08] Speaker C: To be fair, you haven't really talked to anyone recently, so.
[00:55:15] Speaker B: Yeah, there's some things I've been.
The summer with my family was a lot.
I learned a lot.
So I want to be here to help share what I learned. You know, put it to good use. But it's.
It's also awkward.
Yeah.
[00:56:04] Speaker C: Yeah, I mean, I get it. And of course, like, I want you to take your own time on this. I think we would all be better off.
Positively. I'm including, and I say this quietly, I'm Kulin in this.
You know, if we did have a more open conversation. I can't read everyone's mind all the time. You know, just remember, awkward is temporary.
Feeling uncomfortable is usually temporary unless you prolong it.
[00:56:40] Speaker B: Gotta rip the band aid off, I guess.
[00:56:43] Speaker C: Rip the bandaid. Unplug the sinkhole or something like that, I guess.
Surprisingly not great at metaphors.
[00:56:55] Speaker B: Just doesn't help that she asked Desmond to come along.
[00:57:05] Speaker C: They're compensating.
Look, I don't. I don't. Neither of us need to be psychic to realize that you two are uncomfortable around each other. Do we need to, like, push you into a room and lock the door, or would that be more dangerous than it is? Good.
[00:57:24] Speaker B: That would probably be not safe for the room.
I could imagine some doors being knocked down.
[00:57:39] Speaker C: Okay, well, you need help. You could just like, yell at us.
Take your time, but I think you should just.
And I'm going to walk a little bit further up, and I'm going to say louder, but still only where you could hear. Also, I have money on who talks to each other first. My money's on you, so.
[00:58:03] Speaker A: Ouch.
[00:58:04] Speaker C: That is a lie.
[00:58:07] Speaker A: So, Jen, are you. You dragged Desmond along? Are you talking to him, or are you just sort of.
[00:58:17] Speaker E: Oh, yeah. I mean, the last time I really saw him was a couple of weeks ago.
And I will do anything to not be alone with November right now.
So, yeah, no, definitely catching up with Deb. Desmond asking what he's been up to.
You know, chatting about this, that and the other thing. Just trying to fill the air so I don't have to think about people. Up, up. People. One. One specific people.
[00:58:48] Speaker A: One singular per. One singular people.
[00:58:50] Speaker E: One singular people. Yes.
[00:58:52] Speaker A: Y. Yep, yep, yep.
[00:58:54] Speaker D: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:58:55] Speaker A: No, I mean, you've learned that Desmond's been Keeping busy, you know, he. Yeah. When you saw him last, just gotten back from New York, and he took a trip probably to some other place in New Jersey and following up some leads and trying to get some information for you because, you know, you wanted to know a little bit about the coroner, so he was able to track somebody who knew the coroner, therefore get that information for you and sort of just talks about that and you know how, honestly he's glad to not be in New York anymore.
[00:59:37] Speaker E: Yeah, it's fair. It's a. It's a loud city that, you know, is just getting over smelling like piss for the summer. So, you know.
[00:59:43] Speaker A: Yeah. And it's just like. It's worse when you're a supernatural being because there are so many supernatural beings. It's supernatural dick measuring all over the place.
[00:59:52] Speaker E: All over the place. Yeah. Nobody needs that energy.
And at some point when the conversation ends up dwindling, I will ask him what the favor was that he was owed. Like, what he did to be owed a favor.
[01:00:11] Speaker A: He was like.
Well, I helped him with. There were.
I guess was. Before the Slayer, there were some rowdy vampires who were causing far too much trouble for themselves and would eventually have gotten, I don't know, some sort of.
There's so many groups now that, like, hunt supernatural beings. Like, one of those pulled on them, and he didn't really. He's. He's a demon himself, so he.
He kind of, like, likes it. And he's got a good place with that job because it keeps him fed.
[01:00:56] Speaker E: When he says demon, I will just kind of, like, instinctively, like, cast a little side eye at November and then just, like, get right back to the conversation. Just a small, tiny, tiny, tiny little thing. But that's. That's it.
[01:01:10] Speaker A: Yeah. Well, then at some point he'll just be like, so.
Yeah, how's.
How's. How's Ari been?
[01:01:20] Speaker E: Fine. You know, taking fiverr jobs and lifting heavy things in her spare time and kind of just being a crew mom, I guess. Thank God one of us has to be. And I don't want that job. So, you know, she's still kind of concerned about, you know, the guy, the puppet dude, but, you know, we haven't seen it. I mean, it's been relatively quiet, all things considered. So I think. I think she's actually been doing better recently because there hasn't been a ton to take her mind off of school and stuff. But, you know, I mean, we're about. And I'll look at my watch, but I'm not wearing a watch.
And I just say we're about two weeks out from when everything is supposed to go down, so I can only assume that the stick up her butt will go way, way, way higher over the coming weeks. So.
[01:02:17] Speaker A: Yeah, well, I gonna be around, so do you need anything, let me know. And he's not going to.
[01:02:32] Speaker E: Well, you know, one of us is supposed to die and I'll kind of like gesture between myself and Ari or maybe both of us, who knows. So you know, I mean, if you're around, you could.
[01:02:44] Speaker A: We are two for one deal.
[01:02:46] Speaker E: Yeah. Yeah, two for one. Slayer special.
[01:02:49] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:02:50] Speaker E: You know, but yeah, I mean, if you're around and you could help me not die, you know, that'd be cool, but you know, I mean, you're my.
[01:02:58] Speaker A: Second favorite slayer, so.
[01:03:00] Speaker E: Wow. Second.
[01:03:04] Speaker A: Yeah.
Wow.
[01:03:11] Speaker E: And I am just going to like kind of shove him a little bit as we're walking.
[01:03:14] Speaker A: Yeah, sorry. You could probably hear the majority of that.
I don't imagine you're all walking that far apart.
[01:03:26] Speaker D: Yeah, I think Apollo, you noticed me just pause just for a second. Like the rhythm of my steps is a little bit disrupted.
And this strange flash of.
You don't see Aria looks.
You don't see me look sad very often. There's just a little bit of that.
[01:03:51] Speaker C: I. I look at you and just kind of like do the single eyebrow raise. Like question, like questioning.
[01:03:59] Speaker D: Don't you.
[01:03:59] Speaker A: Don't.
[01:04:00] Speaker D: Don't you side eye me.
Eyes. Eyes on the road.
[01:04:05] Speaker C: No, you're walking. Yeah, it's fine.
[01:04:13] Speaker D: Well, look for things that want to kill us.
Are there things that want to kill us? By the way, director.
[01:04:25] Speaker A: Give me a perception check.
[01:04:28] Speaker D: If only I could find my character sheet. There it is. Which window is that in? Okay. Beautiful. Is that notice, notice perception or just perception?
[01:04:36] Speaker A: That is perception. Notice.
[01:04:39] Speaker D: Beautiful. Let's see how this goes. Hehehe. I have to roll real bad for it to be that bad. Okay, that's mediocre.
11. So decent.
[01:04:48] Speaker A: You don't see anything. It's a relatively quiet night. You know, you see a bunch of college students enjoying themselves. There are people heading towards the beach. There are people just sort of like hanging out. There's like a busker in this sort of city park that a bunch of people are like hanging out around.
[01:05:08] Speaker D: Cool. I definitely turn my attention very pointedly towards anything. But. But then behind us.
[01:05:16] Speaker A: Yeah, as you're walking by, you hear, anyway, here's Wonderwall.
[01:05:22] Speaker C: Boo.
[01:05:26] Speaker A: And eventually you find yourselves across the park and standing in front of the esoterica.
It is still open for a Little bit longer.
[01:05:42] Speaker C: Well, we just go in, right? We're not gonna do any. We just didn't want to talk to them. Right.
[01:05:50] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:05:50] Speaker D: We just wanted to see if anyone had bought anything that could potentially be mixed together to create a murder compound.
[01:05:58] Speaker C: Yeah. Casual.
[01:06:00] Speaker E: The us.
[01:06:02] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:06:04] Speaker D: Yeah.
[01:06:04] Speaker A: As you open the door, the smell of patchouli hits you.
And, yeah, this. This place is someone. Is someone burns incense at a constant rate in the store.
It.
It doesn't smell bad, but it smells like, you know, those. And you see Bridget, you know, this woman in her mid-30s, you know, run the shop as long as all of you can remember.
And, you know, well, she knows all of you, so she's just gonna be like, Let me know if you need any.
[01:06:48] Speaker D: Thank you. Actually, we had a question for you.
[01:06:53] Speaker A: Yes.
[01:06:57] Speaker D: How do I put this, Jen? You're better at this.
Well, okay. Having you just say, has anyone purchased murder murder herbs? Is easier than me saying, has anyone purchased murder herbs? I'll just say, didn't I?
[01:07:13] Speaker E: Fine. Has anybody purchased murder herbs?
[01:07:19] Speaker D: If you will.
[01:07:19] Speaker A: Yeah, I feel like you will have to.
[01:07:21] Speaker E: I was trying to avoid that.
[01:07:24] Speaker C: So not. Not the kind that you put inside of, like, a pipe or something. The kind that you put in something that will, like, you know, murder someone.
[01:07:36] Speaker A: I mean, there's a lot of herbs out there that can murder someone if you have them in high enough doses. You know, aconite, wolf, Spain, all that stuff. Pretty poisonous.
[01:07:46] Speaker C: Has there been anyone stranger than us come into this store recently?
[01:07:53] Speaker E: Hold on. Anybody new to the store that's also anybody that you haven't seen around here coming in the last two weeks.
[01:08:06] Speaker A: Thinks about it and just goes. It's really hard to tell with, you know, the end of tourism season and the start of school. You know, we're getting into those last vacations.
There was a woman who about a week and a half ago, came in and bought some stuff. I don't remember but what she bought, but I had certainly never seen her before.
[01:08:33] Speaker E: You're telling me that you can't remember somebody that you haven't seen before coming in and buying stuff that could potentially be murder herbs?
Because that feels like something that I would be aware of. Right?
[01:08:46] Speaker A: I mean, I don't make a habit of selling poisonous herbs. I don't sell wolfsbane or aconite or anything like that.
I mean, like, are these herbs that, in high enough doses, kill someone? Where we.
[01:09:02] Speaker E: Maybe some sort of sedation of, like.
[01:09:06] Speaker C: Maybe or someone has. You know, when some people have, like, an extra sense and they want to state that, you know, obviously you know about this.
[01:09:19] Speaker E: Okay, well, that's a. That's a sentence. That's a phrase that just came out of their mouth. So.
[01:09:29] Speaker B: And do you sell anything for that?
[01:09:31] Speaker C: Well.
[01:09:35] Speaker A: And she looks at you and just goes, if I were to do something like that, I don't know if I would use herbs.
You. All the tires heal quickly.
You'd have to dose someone in an incredibly high dose to get it to stick around in your systems for any time at all. I mean, it's. There's a lot of herbs that. In mixes and high enough doses that could, you know, do something like that. I mean, most herbs that you could find in a, you know, ashwagandha, you know, royal basil, things like that. So those are all things that suppress the adrenal response. Like maybe something like that. Or there's some that also just, like, make people tired. Like, it's not what I would use if I were to go after a slayer. Not that I go after slayers.
[01:10:36] Speaker B: Well, what would you use?
[01:10:39] Speaker A: I would just use magic.
[01:10:42] Speaker C: Oh, do you have cameras?
[01:10:45] Speaker D: I mean, fair point.
[01:10:48] Speaker C: No fair. You know, hey, cab. I get it. But really helpful right now.
[01:10:56] Speaker A: I did, and then I did a spell and it fried all of my electronics, and I haven't replaced a bunch of stuff since then. You.
[01:11:05] Speaker C: Do you need them replaced? We could help you with that for a price.
[01:11:08] Speaker A: Honestly, it's fine. I mean, like, you know, knowing breaks in here anyways, so.
[01:11:24] Speaker E: And at this point, I'm. I'm going to reach over where. What did November do with the.
The coroner's report?
[01:11:35] Speaker B: Probably put it in my messenger bag that I have.
[01:11:38] Speaker E: Okay.
Because I don't want it to be weird in front of the shopkeeper. I will turn to look directly at November and I'll just say, hey, November, can I get the coroner's report?
[01:11:54] Speaker B: Yeah, pull it out.
[01:11:59] Speaker E: I'll hold out my hand.
[01:12:04] Speaker B: Give it.
So I don't touch your hand, just, like, hold the paper out that you could grab the paper like the.
[01:12:14] Speaker E: And I will.
I'll grab it and turn back around and just kind of like lean in real close to the shopkeeper. And then I'll, like, open it up. Well, okay, first it's closed, and I put my hand on top of it and I'll say, okay, so here's. So here's the thing. So here's the thing. I know this is, like, a really weird line of questioning, but here's what's happening there. There is some crazy stuff going down across the country, and Somebody is targeting slayers, and there's this coroner's report, and it was talking about some weird compound that they couldn't figure out.
And I don't know if you know anything about coroner's reports, but if I were to show you this, if I were to open up this coroner's report and show it to you, would that help you?
Maybe, like, ring a little bells? Just, you know, jog your memory, maybe see if you can be of help to us in any way, shape or form?
[01:13:07] Speaker A: I can try. I mean, I mentioned that, like, about a week and a half ago, a woman I'd never met before. I think she might have been a witch. She at least seemed to know what she was talking about.
[01:13:17] Speaker E: What do you remember, but you don't remember what she bought?
[01:13:21] Speaker A: Ritual candles, Basic.
Basic spell casting stuff.
[01:13:34] Speaker B: I as. No. Jen is asking these questions of Bridget. Can I, like, just watch her really closely and. And see if, like, I can tell if she's lying, like, if she's sure at least withholding information.
Trying to see if I can use some of my empathy here.
[01:13:59] Speaker A: Yeah, give me that empathy roll.
[01:14:04] Speaker B: Okay. That's better.
Six plus.
Oh, okay. So that was 14.
So it's good. It's level three.
[01:14:32] Speaker A: All right.
If 14. Yeah. She doesn't seem to be lying.
And, you know, the woman goes to Bridget goes. She's looking it over, and she's trying to see if anything. And she said to Jen, you know, this person bought ritual candles, basic spell supplies. It was probably a witch that she'd never seen before. And she, like, is, like, shuffling around and she. She has, like a. A log book and stuff. So she's, like, flipping through that and seeing if she can remember.
And so. So she. She goes, okay, this woman, she said her name was Alice, that, you know, she was looking for some basic spell supplies, and that's what she got.
No herbs that could, in high doses, suppress anything or kill anyone. It was, you know, classic sage and. And other things like that.
[01:16:05] Speaker E: How was she acting?
[01:16:10] Speaker A: I mean, like a normal person. I didn't. I literally didn't think anything of it until you said she wasn't being, you know, cagey or anything.
Her.
She paid with a card.
There was a.
I saw the last name Clay, I think.
[01:16:42] Speaker C: Do you happen to have that transaction history up? I know this sounds like identity theft, but it's much deeper than that.
[01:16:57] Speaker A: I have.
I mean, please, please, at this point, give me some sort of persuasion check.
You're trying to convince this person to give over very sensitive information. So give Me A.
We'll do a.
[01:17:23] Speaker C: I sell you on something to do with crime.
[01:17:28] Speaker B: Well, what about influence? Does anyone have.
[01:17:32] Speaker A: Yeah, does anyone have influence?
[01:17:33] Speaker C: I have some influence.
[01:17:35] Speaker E: I could. I. I've got a. I've got an amount of influence.
[01:17:40] Speaker D: Is it greater than zero?
[01:17:45] Speaker E: Yes, it is approximately this many.
[01:17:49] Speaker C: So more than I.
[01:17:51] Speaker A: We'll do a. We'll do like a willpower influence.
[01:17:54] Speaker E: Oh, I like that. Okay, cool. I can do that.
[01:17:57] Speaker D: Meanwhile, I'm just going straight to, straight to social media.
[01:18:01] Speaker C: Good call.
[01:18:01] Speaker E: That's fair.
[01:18:02] Speaker D: Looking at check ins, all that stuff.
[01:18:04] Speaker E: Unfortunately did not roll as high as I'd like. That's only good.
But I'm kind of going to be a little pushy I think and just like kind of be like, you know, it's at this point like we don't have any leads and we are looking for somebody who could be incredibly dangerous. So you might be doing us a huge favor. But also think about how much it would suck if she was in fact who we were looking for. And you know, she caused way more harm by. By being let to do whatever it is that she's going to do.
[01:18:44] Speaker A: We're going, going the, the classic guilt route. I see.
[01:18:48] Speaker C: Also, we're not.
[01:18:50] Speaker E: Yes, we are also not narcs, but you know.
[01:18:54] Speaker A: Yeah.
So, so what exactly were you looking for from her? Like you were like transaction history, transit.
[01:19:04] Speaker C: Transaction number that will lead to the card info. The card info.
I have some computer stuff. I in game would know how to reverse search and engineer that through some backdoor systems that may or may not be considered legal in some eyes.
[01:19:23] Speaker A: Okay.
She will at least give you the transaction number from her like little clover machine thing that she has. Or she's got like a square. She's got a, like the square. She had an iPad. That's what she uses. Yeah.
And Ari, you said you're just taken to social media.
[01:19:41] Speaker D: I am taking to social media. Looking up anything to do with that first and last name that we have specifically using a. Like I'm looking not only in our region but also in the states slash areas that have also been affected by this.
I say serial killing as if we don't know what it is. But you know, like.
[01:20:03] Speaker E: Yeah, I mean this ritual killing, you.
[01:20:07] Speaker D: Can, you know the cult murders.
[01:20:10] Speaker A: The cult murders, yes. Give me an intelligence computers role. And also Paolo, you will need to probably actually like be on an actual computer rather than your phone to look this up. So we get that soon. Yeah, but you could social media stalk someone from anywhere.
[01:20:28] Speaker C: This is true.
[01:20:31] Speaker D: So the Bad news is I only have a plus three to that. The good news is I rolled a nine, so that ends up being a decent success.
[01:20:39] Speaker A: That's a decent success. It'll at least give you some information.
You pick up a. An Alice McClay.
[01:20:51] Speaker D: Oh, I only heard clay. I didn't hear the first syllable. Oh my. Okay, moving on.
[01:20:56] Speaker A: Uh huh. You. That was.
I know who that is.
[01:21:01] Speaker D: Oh yeah, we do.
[01:21:01] Speaker B: Saffron knows who that is.
[01:21:03] Speaker A: Oh yeah, that was recently passed through Marlon Bay.
[01:21:12] Speaker D: Awesome. Excellent.
[01:21:13] Speaker A: Okay, there is like a photo. She posted a photo on the beach.
[01:21:18] Speaker D: Okay, so ignoring the fact that my. That my player knows who this is.
Ari.
Back to Ari. I will real quick pull up this person's profile and just kind of like beckon the rest of our little crew. Hey, check this out. I think this matches the name.
And I scroll past a couple of the check ins. I think this might be the person.
[01:21:44] Speaker C: Oh, okay.
[01:21:45] Speaker D: And I show the shopkeep.
[01:21:46] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah, that's. That's her.
[01:21:50] Speaker D: Awesome. Thank you.
[01:21:51] Speaker C: When was the last post?
[01:21:54] Speaker D: When was the last post director?
[01:21:56] Speaker A: It was the. The same day she bought the.
So it was about a week, about like a week and a half ago.
[01:22:03] Speaker D: What was the post?
[01:22:04] Speaker A: It was the.
[01:22:05] Speaker D: Gonna murder some people.
[01:22:06] Speaker A: It was the photo on the beach.
[01:22:09] Speaker C: Gonna murder my thirst at the Grove.
[01:22:13] Speaker E: Going, going back in the timeline, like, did we see any posts from other states that maybe have had murders in them?
[01:22:25] Speaker C: Any lines of power?
[01:22:28] Speaker A: Yeah, I tagged lines of power.
[01:22:31] Speaker E: No, I mean, hey, you know, some people tag themselves doing weird things.
[01:22:35] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:22:36] Speaker C: Sent from my toaster.
[01:22:40] Speaker A: Well, so going back there are.
It's interesting. Like, yeah, there's some stuff.
The only one that really stands out is she was in California around the same time as the first body.
[01:23:04] Speaker D: Can I real quick wave Desmond over and have him take a look? Do you see anyone in the background that matches up with the vic?
[01:23:21] Speaker A: Okay, I have his stats, so I will roll for him. See what he notices my perfume.
And so he.
He, you know, as you're looking through these photos and he. He eventually like takes your phone like a little bit, like, can I. And then like does the thing where you like enlarge the photo and enlarge, enhance, enlarge. Like you grab and you stretch and he. He's like looking with his special vampire eyes apparently because he rolled a 10 and then add all of his stuff and he goes, that might be the first one.
It's like the photo in at like, it's like a music venue.
[01:24:10] Speaker D: Is this like a. It might be. If you squint real hard and close your eyes. Or it actually might be.
[01:24:15] Speaker A: I mean, I'd have to see a better version of the photo.
[01:24:19] Speaker D: So let me just enlarge and enhance it.
[01:24:20] Speaker E: Huh?
[01:24:21] Speaker A: Yeah, same.
From what my contact was able to get me, that looks relatively like the same shirt she was wearing. Less blood and same hair color.
[01:24:34] Speaker E: Important question. Ah, fudge muffins. I'm not part of this conversation.
[01:24:39] Speaker A: I mean, you can probably hear it. This thing is not big.
[01:24:41] Speaker E: Okay. Okay, great.
[01:24:42] Speaker A: This thing is tiny.
[01:24:44] Speaker E: Okay, so. And Desmond is not quiet. So I'm going to, like, come on over and I'm gonna, like, grab the phone, and I still have the coroner's report in my hand.
Stop it. And I'm gonna open up the coroner's report and I'm gonna read the name and I'm going to quickly do like. Like, open up, like, the tags and see if she's tagged. If her name is tagged in that photo.
[01:25:11] Speaker D: Call Hannah, or I will.
[01:25:13] Speaker B: Also low.
[01:25:17] Speaker A: Yeah, no, November.
[01:25:20] Speaker B: Well, I was gonna say I was gonna come over as well and look to see if it was like, a location was tagged and this person also, like, tagged that, you know, had posted their own photos in that location.
[01:25:37] Speaker D: We need a.
[01:25:37] Speaker B: Wait. We should actually. We should probably find the social media accounts of the people who died, shouldn't we? That would probably.
[01:25:44] Speaker D: That's a really good idea.
[01:25:45] Speaker E: Look, we're really bad detectives. I'm really good at killing vampires, but, like, not much else. So I had.
[01:25:53] Speaker C: How are we bad detectives? We have two psychics.
[01:25:55] Speaker D: Yeah. I am relegated to one good idea. Awake. And this was it.
[01:26:02] Speaker A: To answer one of your questions. No, she's not tagged in the photo.
But if you search the slayers, that first slayer's social media and all of that stuff, you do see that she. That was the last photo that she ever posted as a photo of her getting ready to go to the show.
[01:26:23] Speaker B: Wait, the first slayer who was killed? Yes, the second slayer who was killed.
[01:26:28] Speaker A: First slayer who was killed.
[01:26:30] Speaker B: Okay.
[01:26:32] Speaker C: Well, this is pretty good evidence and pretty good lead.
[01:26:39] Speaker B: It's either the world's biggest coincidence or.
Yeah, the first solid lead we've had in a while.
[01:26:48] Speaker C: Not such thing as coincidences.
So.
Excellent.
Do we want to.
You should head out and So I can look up some more info. Right.
Wanna look up more info?
Cool.
[01:27:13] Speaker E: Yeah, no, I. I think we've probably gotten all that we can. We can get here and I'll turn to Ari and I'll hand her back her phone and I just say, do you need anything while we're here.
[01:27:27] Speaker D: Actually. And I turn back to Bridget. Do you have anything to ease.
Ease sleep at all?
[01:27:41] Speaker A: I'm sure I've got something.
Are you looking to make it into like a tea or something?
[01:27:50] Speaker D: Well, what's. What's the best way of doing it? Because I heard that a TB forced leave. I'm just looking to get rid of some nightmares.
[01:27:59] Speaker B: Sorry, have you been having nightmares?
[01:28:04] Speaker D: No.
[01:28:07] Speaker C: It's a preventative measure.
[01:28:12] Speaker A: I mean, I think I've got some valerian root.
I mean, you probably mix that in with tea or whatever or you go to sleep and it might help with that.
[01:28:27] Speaker D: Perfect. I'll take a two weeks break, please.
[01:28:30] Speaker A: And she'll go and like measure out a thing of this herb and she'll.
[01:28:35] Speaker D: Do you take PayPal.
[01:28:38] Speaker A: It's on the house.
[01:28:40] Speaker D: Well, thank you.
I'm just like going to pull out my phone and get it and looking for the PayPal QR code.
[01:28:47] Speaker C: $5 falls out of your pocket.
[01:28:53] Speaker D: It's like, oh, hey, five bucks.
[01:28:59] Speaker A: So you have.
[01:29:00] Speaker D: I will just tuck the Valyrian root into my bag.
[01:29:03] Speaker A: Yeah, you. You do that. And you can leave the esoterica and Bridget to I guess probably finally close up and so the question is, where you off to now?
Are you going to go to Catriona's apartment where, you know, the books are and where you can kind of set up and start working and researching?
[01:29:24] Speaker D: I think that's probably a good idea.
[01:29:25] Speaker C: They probably have the space for some rituals.
[01:29:28] Speaker D: We should probably also just be here to receive Mr. Gideon Post. Yeah.
[01:29:36] Speaker E: We will have to leave Desmond for reasons he'll live.
Yeah. So, you know, say goodbye to Desmond, tell him not to be a stranger, etc. Etc.
[01:29:51] Speaker A: He'll give you a salute and say number hasn't changed. Feel free to message me if you need anything.
So I'm just gonna go root in a graveyard again.
[01:30:05] Speaker D: You know, you could always brood somewhere else.
[01:30:10] Speaker A: Yeah, but this place doesn't have like a fun music club that I could brew it at.
I see that. I brewed in the. I brewed in the coffee house. I brewed in the graveyard.
[01:30:20] Speaker D: There's a nice little Internet cafe I think. I think it's 20, maybe 21 hour, but I think it. I think it's 24 hour and I'll.
[01:30:30] Speaker A: Go check it out if maybe he'll let me brood there.
Says with a smile.
[01:30:42] Speaker D: Always with the brooding.
[01:30:44] Speaker A: And you're welcome to join me. Communal brooding.
[01:30:49] Speaker D: Well, that just sounds mildly dirty.
[01:30:55] Speaker A: Finger guns as the group splits and you all head over to Catriona's apartment. It's a very nice condo.
Clearly whatever remains of the Watchers Council is very good to her.
And you all have the spare key. You let yourselves in, you turn off the alarm.
And there are books, there are places to set up. And before we go anywhere else. Hello. If you could give me that computer scroll.
Yeah.
[01:31:34] Speaker C: Should I do just computers or intelligence?
[01:31:41] Speaker A: Computers.
[01:31:42] Speaker C: All right. I'm not rolling a D20. And put that over here.
That's pretty good. That's going to be 13.
[01:31:54] Speaker A: 13. You are kind of able to track the card.
You pull up a number of transactions from the same card. It's not like all of them. There is.
There are a couple, like for motels and. Or supplies food all across the United States. None of them are in the same. Like the only one that's in the same city is the ticket for the music venue that you've connected her and the first Slayer to die to do.
[01:32:29] Speaker C: I have the most recent transaction.
[01:32:31] Speaker A: The most recent?
[01:32:32] Speaker C: The most.
[01:32:33] Speaker A: The last transaction was made on this card was at the Esoterica.
[01:32:36] Speaker C: Okay.
Yeah, I would look. Okay, so, I mean, there are transactions.
Looks like they line up pretty well with the road trip across the United States, starting in California and then most recently here. They stopped at a couple gas stations, a motel 6, a motel 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.
[01:33:01] Speaker D: Is there like.
[01:33:02] Speaker C: No, no, just five across. Okay.
Middle of nowhere.
Most recent was there at Esoterica.
[01:33:11] Speaker B: How many days ago was that?
[01:33:14] Speaker C: Seven.
[01:33:15] Speaker A: A week and a half. Like 10 days ago.
[01:33:17] Speaker C: 10 days ago.
[01:33:20] Speaker B: There's a chance she's not actually still in town.
[01:33:24] Speaker D: Any chance there's a charge from like today somewhere?
[01:33:28] Speaker C: No. At least not on here. These transactions, it only allows me to look at so many in this case, but I mean, it seems like we got the person.
[01:33:42] Speaker D: Do you have a phone number available that you can get. Get to.
[01:33:48] Speaker C: I look at a phone number.
[01:33:52] Speaker A: I would say you don't have that information for what you rolled.
[01:33:59] Speaker C: Wait, no.
[01:34:04] Speaker D: Can you like divine yourself a phone number using your psychic stuff?
[01:34:12] Speaker C: Maybe.
Maybe.
[01:34:17] Speaker D: Well, do it.
[01:34:19] Speaker C: Sure.
Can I.
Going through this and cross referencing both their socials and this look up to see.
Oh, can I hack into their social media account?
Hack by brute forcing their password so you can try.
[01:34:47] Speaker A: That will be a more challenging role.
So that is. It is going to be at a minus two to your role. If you want to attempt that.
[01:35:08] Speaker B: You do have drama points, right?
[01:35:10] Speaker C: I. I'm more than willing to spend a drama point, but let me roll first.
I mean, that was an okay role. So I will spend it's the same role, right? Intelligence, computers.
[01:35:25] Speaker A: Yes.
[01:35:26] Speaker C: Okay, so with that role, that's going to make it. With a drama. Point spent. It's going to be a 21.
[01:35:33] Speaker A: A 21. Okay. Yeah. So you can get into her social medias. Yeah, I do.
[01:35:41] Speaker C: That I'm going to do on the book, Face the password recovery, which has the phone number.
It's going to confirm the phone number and then I'm going to decline sending it so they don't get an actual message and it's like. Got it.
I guess their password. You know, I looked into the space and I found it.
[01:36:04] Speaker D: I'm biting my tongue so hard right now.
[01:36:08] Speaker B: Is.
Is there a chance that while Paulo has been doing all this research and Ari is like, watching over their shoulder, that I could have been like, hey, Jen.
[01:36:28] Speaker A: Yes, there is.
[01:36:36] Speaker E: Like, what?
[01:36:38] Speaker D: Just like.
[01:36:43] Speaker B: Do you remember what you said to me on the first day of school.
[01:36:54] Speaker E: Probably high.
[01:36:58] Speaker B: That you thought we should talk?
[01:37:03] Speaker E: Oh, you mean. You mean this, that. You mean like two weeks ago?
That.
[01:37:10] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:37:11] Speaker E: So not like the very first day, but like.
[01:37:14] Speaker B: No, not when we met the first day.
[01:37:18] Speaker E: Yes, yes, I do. And you know, our schedules just haven't lined up since then, so.
But hey, it's how fortuitous then I guess, that our friends together, that we are here at the same place and the same time. That's.
Yeah.
[01:37:51] Speaker B: Does Catriona have like a balcony or something? Or like a different.
[01:37:56] Speaker A: Yeah, there's like a balcony you can go out to.
[01:37:59] Speaker B: Let's.
Let's get some fresh air.
[01:38:05] Speaker E: Yeah, all right, sure. And I'll stand up and just kind of like, look just like over November's head because I assume that he's kind of like on his way over, so I'm going to like, look above, above him over towards Aryan Paulo as like a are you sure nobody needs me? Kind of thing before. Before continuing. Because Arian Paulo say nothing in this moment like the motherfuckers they are.
[01:38:41] Speaker C: M.
[01:38:50] Speaker E: Did you just hold up an ace of spades, Paolo?
[01:38:54] Speaker C: Ace of hearts.
[01:38:55] Speaker E: Ace of hearts. Oh, okay. Sorry. Well, even. Even better.
Great. But yes, I will. I will follow November and we will head out towards the balcony.
[01:39:13] Speaker B: So.
[01:39:18] Speaker E: So.
[01:39:29] Speaker B: You get up to this summer?
[01:39:32] Speaker E: What did I get up to this summer?
Oh, gosh, you know, just spent a lot of time working, you know, trying to stay busy.
There was that weird mothman incident, but, you know, that got taken care of pretty quick.
So, you know, I wish that had gone on for longer because it's way more interesting than working at the ice cream Shop, but, you know, and then I just, you know, spent. Spent a lot of time being. Being. Being really mad all summer, so.
So that was fun.
How about. How about you?
[01:40:38] Speaker B: Went home, spent it with my family.
So I asked my mom a lot of questions.
[01:40:53] Speaker E: Yeah, I hope you. I hope you got answers that you were looking for.
[01:41:03] Speaker B: Well, the good thing is I confirmed that, you know, I don't.
As far as I know, I'm not evil.
There's no everyone, she assured me. Oh, we're. We're.
We're just peaceful demons.
But I.
[01:41:45] Speaker E: You know, I mean, we've got. We've seen Desmond, right? We've got peaceful vamps. So who's not. Who's to say that peaceful demons aren't a thing too?
[01:42:04] Speaker B: I.
I learned.
You know, my visions, my dreams, they're as part of my heritage, my bloodline, my family is how I. How I can see what I see. And you know, it's not.
I feel like you should know, maybe what I can do.
Why I can do what I do.
Because you mean. I mean, you already left, so.
I already left.
[01:43:20] Speaker E: I. I already left. That's. That's. That's fucking rich. That is so rich that you would say that to me.
[01:43:32] Speaker B: I saw.
No, I felt you leave, Jen.
[01:43:38] Speaker E: In your dream. In your. In your. In your dream. You're mad at me because I left you in a dream? Do you know how psychotic that sounds? Oh, how you're being mad at me for dream Jen?
[01:43:55] Speaker B: Because it's not a dream, Jen. It's the future. It's the truth. It's what you are capable of doing.
[01:44:03] Speaker E: Sometimes dreams are just dreams, right?
Well, why can't they just be dreams?
[01:44:12] Speaker B: The flayed body of that girl was not just a dream.
[01:44:17] Speaker E: Okay, cool. So we're one for two then.
One's a dream, one's not a dream.
[01:44:24] Speaker B: You know, I've had more than that. I've seen more than that. And I've felt them.
[01:44:31] Speaker E: And you're batting a hundred.
Every single dream that you have ever had has come true. Is that what you're trying to say to me?
Every single one.
Well, you know, I'm. I'm so. I'm so glad that you decided that protecting yourself was the most important thing.
That you decided that giving me the chance to do better, to be better, to not be dream gen, wasn't an option.
I'm so glad. I'm so glad.
Do you know how much I fucking hurt because of this choice that you've made? This choice that you took from me every single Day.
Every single day of the summer. Every single day that I have to see your face.
Every single day. All I think about is everything that we were. Because we were so good together.
Every moment that I was with you, it made me so happy. Which is not a feeling I often feel.
And then it was ripped away because you had a dream.
And that's fine. That's fine. You know what? You don't. You don't. You don't. I just.
[01:46:29] Speaker B: I'm eating them.
I'm. I. I drink up their memories. I. They're. They're. They.
That's how I can see.
[01:46:44] Speaker E: What are you talking about?
[01:46:51] Speaker B: The reason my parents run a funeral. My. My mother is the head of the funeral home. Is because the kind of demon she is eats.
Eats up the dead.
Not their blood, not their body, their energy.
You really want to be with someone who does that? Who has been doing that unintentionally since the moment you met her?
The very first case we had.
The dead bodies that I found that I just. I knew stuff about them that I didn't know I knew is because I was.
I was.
I was. I have her memories. I have the memories of.
That's how I can see what I see.
And you know, it's my. My mom promises. It's. It's. It's a way of honoring them.
[01:48:24] Speaker A: It's.
[01:48:24] Speaker B: It's people who've passed naturally. She. She gives them a nice coat of makeup, makes them look alive again and then takes it all in.
And I can't barely stand myself.
That.
[01:48:51] Speaker E: That's.
[01:48:54] Speaker D: That.
[01:48:54] Speaker B: This summer I learned. I sat with her and I saw the entire life of a 60 year old painter who lived such a full life. And I.
I drank it all in.
And it felt so good. I was so.
I felt the strongest I'd ever felt.
How can you say that you want to be with me when that's what I can do?
[01:49:40] Speaker E: I can kill people with a piece of wood. I don't like. You're trying to make it out like you're this terrible, awful, horrible person.
I don't.
[01:49:59] Speaker D: Like.
[01:50:00] Speaker E: I don't get it.
You're not hurting anybody.
I'm not sure I see the problem.
[01:50:13] Speaker B: Do you have.
That's the problem then.
You don't have any respect for the people you've killed.
You don't think that you could have saved them?
[01:50:35] Speaker E: No.
[01:50:35] Speaker D: No.
[01:50:36] Speaker B: They're all just demons. They're all just vampires. They're all just bad things to be taken care of.
[01:50:41] Speaker E: No, stop it. That's not.
[01:50:50] Speaker B: I know how Fun being a slayer is to you.
It's never been scary, has it?
[01:51:03] Speaker E: No.
It's all about protection. At the end of the day.
[01:51:17] Speaker D: You.
[01:51:22] Speaker B: You've never thought about how you could die?
Jen, there is. Well, sure, family. A cult that is coming to this town and is probably going to kill you. And if I'm around, if you are killed, there'd be nothing left of you because I.
I just eat you all up.
I mean, I could try. I'm trying to be focused and win and know when it's happening and know when I'm doing it. But you don't know.
I have to carry all these people with me.
It's. It's.
It's not. It doesn't feel like an honor. It's a burden.
And I don't want.
I don't want you to feel like that.
Want you to be your own person.
[01:52:49] Speaker E: I guess what I don't understand through all of this is if your dreams are predictions for the future, you seem to think that they are unchangeable. Right?
That they will happen. And yet you broke up with me. Ergo, your dream did not come true.
[01:53:19] Speaker B: They're not set in stone, per se.
[01:53:23] Speaker E: Oh, they're not. So they're so. They're. They're changeable then. So we could have overcome something together, is what you're saying. With a little bit of work and a little bit of effort and.
[01:53:34] Speaker B: Do you still want to be with me?
Do you think you could ever forgive me?
[01:53:49] Speaker E: At this point, to avoid the question, I am going to actually push November up against the glass and I'm just going to kiss him.
[01:54:03] Speaker A: Yep.
[01:54:04] Speaker D: Meanwhile, me and Paolo just like.
[01:54:10] Speaker A: And as one of you pulls back from the kiss, you sort of look out over the parking lot of this condominium and you watch as Catriona's car pulls in and parks.
And then I think we'll figure out what happens next. Next time, all of those lovely high end emotions.
[01:54:43] Speaker E: Oh, my God.
[01:54:46] Speaker A: Well, now we'll do the lovely thing of letting everyone tell you where they can find you. You can find them on the Internet. And we'll start with you, Saffron. After that really amazing performance.
[01:54:58] Speaker B: I feel actually flushed right now.
[01:55:00] Speaker E: I know. I'm like so warm. Just like. Oh, my God.
[01:55:06] Speaker B: Oh, gosh. Okay.
Hi, I'm Saffron. Have to go. My user social medias everywhere is gaub Hefta G A U B H E F T A I do. I do things. I do the things.
I am a audio and video editor and producer and I have made Three actual plays seasons with midnight ceremonies media which you can
[email protected] and that's the main thing for now.
[01:55:46] Speaker D: Yeah.
[01:55:49] Speaker A: And then next we have Dusty.
[01:55:51] Speaker C: Hello. Hi, I'm Dusty. You could find me all places online at Dusty Hill.
You could also find me doing some work with gobbits and gays as I am both cast the co producer.
You. I am part of our Blood of Kings which is Complete Pathfinder 2nd Edition Season Story campaign. All finished. We're now on Parents of the Dark Star. Very spicy. Very good. You should go check that. You guys check me out at bring your own mech. A lancer actual play where I just play the worst person. Some people may not even be able to find a good thing to say about them.
Also an unwavering force. A Star wars podcast using second edition Pathfinder.
Things are going over there. It's wild. And yeah, one other thing, check out my itch. I read games.
At some point there probably will be a new game in my profile. Probably when this airs. If you like chef competitions and hate Bobby Flay, check it out. That's it.
[01:57:01] Speaker A: And then next we have Jen.
[01:57:03] Speaker D: Oh fuck, that's me. Hi. Hello.
I am Jen. I can be found at Jenburg on pretty much all socials. Things that I do include but are not limited to actual play performance, production, logistics and general over overseeing. I do a lot of community and record keeping, setup and management, specializing in discord and notion. Other places you can find me include running things over at Girls Run these Worlds which is a TTRPGAP channel dedicated to uplifting the voices of women and femmes with also a priority on diversity and intersectionality. That is a fucking mouthful. I can also be found on Kat alluremistress channel on our bi weekly Mythic Odysseys of Theros campaign. Long term we should be on season three. It's going to be absolutely incredible. Come watch us.
[01:57:52] Speaker A: Hi. And V.
Hey, that's me.
[01:57:57] Speaker E: You all know me already. And if you don't, welcome to your first time watching anything by QCG, I suppose.
But my name is V. You can find me anywhere on the Internet at V is for vampire. Because my name is V and I like vampires. I do pretty much everything over here at QCG short of, I don't know, audio stuff, which is Aubrey's department.
So the rest of it, all the art and stuff though if you like the overlay, that's mine. If you, you know, if you like any of the art that you've seen so far from this, it's probably mine too.
You can also find me, oh gosh. Doing stuff all over the place. I'm, I've been on Red Moon role playing. I've got a thing coming out soon TM with other cider studios.
I've been on role playing, public radio a bunch. So there's, there's so much content of mine for you to go check it out. But definitely keep, keep track on socials if you want to see everything that's coming out when it does come out. But also of course everything over here at Queen's Court games, at Queen's Court rpg, on Twitter and at Queensquare games literally everywhere else.
Yeah, that's me. But of course we cannot finish our sign offs without tossing it back to Aubry, our fabulous director for the evening as we were just letting us be our wonderful, wonderfully gay tragic selves. Aubry, if people want to hear more of your tragic gay stories or see you playing your own tragic gaze, where can they do that?
[01:59:36] Speaker A: Well, you can find me all over the Internet at madqueen Cosplay or Mad Queen depending on the website.
As I said, goblets and gays, I run things over there. If you want to see Pathfinder in a bloodborne inspired setting, go listen to Tyrant of the Dark Star. If you want to see it in a ancient Greece inspired setting, go listen to Blood of Kings.
They're all tragic and gay.
And you can also see me playing a very tragic gay over soonish. I believe City of Smoke will be coming back for its season two and that will involve me playing my budget premiere again. And she had nothing but great amazing things happen in season one.
You know, all of that and then I play. You know, you're, you're just the messiest sword lesbian over on Bring your own mech.
It's so messy. I have, I've somehow found my way into a marriage and a polycule and yeah, that's everything else you could find links to on my social media. So yeah.
And yeah, we'll see everyone next week, I guess.
[02:00:52] Speaker E: Yeah. Oh my God. We're going to go now and we are going to decompress ourselves and have our little post game chat exclusive Patreon content. If you're not a patron, why not? You can get this wonderful content for as low as $5 a month. You can hear all of us. We're probably going to start screaming. Screaming. If I had to guess, that's probably how this is going to start with just a whole bunch of screaming. So if you want to hear that, definitely go check it out. It'll be live. Right now it goes live the same time that the episode does, so you can't miss it if you are subbed to our Patreon. So definitely go check that out. Patreon.com queenscourtgames link is going to be in the show notes if you need it.
So yeah, until next time.
Bye for now.
