[00:00:00] Speaker A: Hello, friends, and welcome to another single serving adventure from Queen's Court Games. I'm Aubrey, and tonight we will have a jaunt of the world of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. We'll be playing Eat yout Young, a scenario written for the Buffy the Vampire Slayer TTRPG by Eden Studios. By me.
And you can find out more about Buffy the Vampire Slayer by taking a look at the show notes.
Now, while this isn't horror, this isn't a horror scenario. There are some topics that certain viewers may find uncomfortable or objectionable.
You can get a list of these topics by checking the show notes. The cast has been briefed on these topics and has QCG's safety tools at hand. But make sure to keep yourself safe and take breaks if you need them.
Now, all that is settled, let's meet our amazing cast this evening.
First up, we have most likely to draw occult symbols into their latte, It's Saffron.
[00:00:58] Speaker B: Hello.
[00:01:02] Speaker A: And next up, most likely to make a deal with a demon so they never have to sleep again. It's Dusty.
[00:01:09] Speaker C: Hello. Still feeling attacked?
[00:01:13] Speaker A: Welcome.
And then, most likely to realize the theater professor is a witch, it's Yen.
[00:01:20] Speaker D: What up?
[00:01:21] Speaker A: And lastly, but not leastly, most likely to kiss A vampire is QCG's resident art czar and Queen of the Court being.
[00:01:30] Speaker E: I definitely am not wearing this shirt on purpose for today's recording.
Hi.
[00:01:39] Speaker A: Now that the cast has been revealed, let me tell you a story.
So last session it was you all met a man named Walter who told you that you would are all going to die. It's great. I'm sure nothing bad is going to happen. Something about father, something about family, yada yada. Multiple people dead across the United States.
And it's now getting on to late afternoon of that first day.
Looks like that the watcher has shifted into full research mode. And I think at least one of the slayers was taking that opportunity to ditch.
[00:02:35] Speaker D: To be fair, he never said we were going to die. He just said, enjoy what time you have left.
[00:02:40] Speaker A: That's fair.
[00:02:40] Speaker D: Ominous statement. Ominous statement.
[00:02:42] Speaker A: You're right there. You're right there.
[00:02:47] Speaker D: Was it me? I don't think it was me that decided to ditch. I am. No, I am too uptight for that.
[00:02:53] Speaker E: Look, look.
[00:02:56] Speaker C: Someone was feeling attacked.
Someone was feeling.
I couldn't say who. It wasn't me.
[00:03:04] Speaker E: I had very important things to do.
[00:03:09] Speaker D: Slayer things.
[00:03:11] Speaker E: Yeah, obviously. I am a slayer. Ergo, everything I do is a slayer thing. Right? When I eat breakfast, I am eating slayer breakfast. When I'm taking a nap, I'M taking a Slayer nap.
[00:03:24] Speaker D: Does that apply to the band too?
[00:03:27] Speaker A: Yes, yes.
[00:03:29] Speaker C: Raining Blood.
[00:03:34] Speaker E: But yeah, I mean, you know, I just. Just really, really important Slayer things that don't require me to be around November for reasons.
[00:03:48] Speaker D: It's more of a September kind of deal.
[00:03:52] Speaker A: Technically it's August.
[00:03:54] Speaker C: Do you remember?
[00:03:59] Speaker B: Well, speaking of me, I remember the Watcher saying that she was reading about demon families because of the family being someone, you know, this entity that was named.
[00:04:23] Speaker D: Ominous capitalization.
[00:04:25] Speaker B: Yeah. I think I'd like to see if I could read what she found.
Just out of curiosity.
[00:04:38] Speaker A: Yeah, I mean the books are all across her desk and she is currently poring over a different book. So, you know, it's not that much at all. And currently it is, as I believe said last time, it's less of like genus family, you know, demon, because you're very unsure of the context of family.
So.
And you know, there's. You have some experience with demon families?
[00:05:16] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, a little.
[00:05:19] Speaker A: Yeah.
A lot of this stuff is the Watchers. And especially because there isn't a Watcher Council anymore, a lot of the information the Watcher Council had kind of went boom.
So she is working on third hand sources essentially.
You know, this is. Looks to be some sort of old Watcher diary that.
So she's sort of flipping through it, reading about families of demons. And it's your general pretty basic information.
[00:06:01] Speaker B: I have some knowledge of the occult and yes, some. Just some knowledge of.
From my personal experience, I guess.
Are the things. Are any of the experiences written about in these old journals familiar to me? Are they ringing any bells? Are they like anything that I'm like, oh, I know about that.
[00:06:43] Speaker A: If they're about any of your family? Kind of.
[00:06:47] Speaker B: Yes, that's what I'm asking.
[00:06:48] Speaker A: Okay. Give me, give me an. We'll do an intelligence plus a cult roll.
[00:06:54] Speaker B: Okay.
Would I get to add.
Oh, wait, I guess that's a drawback. So it would be good. It wouldn't be a subtract, subtract, subtract. I was like, is there anything about my family that I get to add? But no, that's a drawback.
[00:07:10] Speaker A: So.
[00:07:11] Speaker B: Okay. Ooh, yeah, that's failure. It's seven total.
[00:07:23] Speaker D: I think this is our first failure.
[00:07:25] Speaker A: I think it might be. Yeah. Well, there is.
[00:07:29] Speaker E: We. We do have drama points. Right. Like we do.
[00:07:34] Speaker A: If you want to spend.
[00:07:36] Speaker E: To spend drama points, they are the respect.
[00:07:40] Speaker D: Okay.
[00:07:40] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:07:41] Speaker A: How.
[00:07:41] Speaker B: What are all the things that I can use for drama points? Again? I didn't write them down.
[00:07:46] Speaker A: You can spend one drama point and essentially get a plus 10 to your role. A heroic feat. Okay.
Most any of the others or you could do for a plot twist. But, yeah, I think what you're going for is the heroic feat. Yeah, you get that plus 10. So that would make it a. If you spent that one drama point. So just subtract one from your total. That would make it a 17.
[00:08:16] Speaker B: An excellent.
[00:08:17] Speaker A: An excellent success.
So this isn't. This isn't, like, about your family or anything specifically. It is because there's mention of ritualistic sacrifices and things like that. She was looking at groups of demons that engage in things like that. Specifically, more ones that. Certain ones that make deals with witches.
You know, ones like that. You know, there were a number of demons for a while that would, like, lure witch covens together. And, you know, she was trying to wonder if. Wondering if maybe this is one of those things where, you know, a powerful demon has lured in this coven of witches to get. Do their bidding for them.
But nothing about your family, so nothing.
[00:09:13] Speaker B: Nothing about.
Yeah. Demons who eat what I eat.
Okay.
[00:09:26] Speaker D: Is it candy corn? It's candy corn, isn't it?
[00:09:31] Speaker B: Well, I mean, I guess with this role, do I also see. Do any of these things that are being talked about remind me of what I dreamt about since I was in some ways able to see the ritual that was performed?
[00:09:49] Speaker A: The more you look at it, the more it doesn't feel like what you saw.
[00:09:59] Speaker B: Then I look up, who else is reading these books with us, I guess, did Ari. Ari stuck. Stuck around.
[00:10:13] Speaker E: Yeah.
[00:10:13] Speaker D: I think Ari would. Would have stuck around to help with research, partly because slayer duties and partly because Ari's definitely got some interest in the occult, like, professionally.
[00:10:31] Speaker C: If Arya was staying, would I stay as well, since there's already someone helping?
I think I would, because I'd probably be too interested in this.
[00:10:44] Speaker E: I.
[00:10:46] Speaker D: So if you're staying, I'll just hold my hand out and be like, glasses.
[00:10:52] Speaker C: I've already cleaned them.
[00:10:55] Speaker D: I take them.
I sniff them. Okay. I give them back.
Just making sure.
[00:11:09] Speaker C: Do you need your own pair or something? Like, you know why I keep the sunglasses, right?
[00:11:15] Speaker D: It's because, you see.
[00:11:20] Speaker A: So you can sleep in class.
[00:11:23] Speaker C: Well, so. So that's part of it. Because, like, clearly you. You don't know.
[00:11:28] Speaker D: So people can't tell if you're staring at them.
[00:11:31] Speaker C: Well, yes, because obviously your eyes. Your eyes are the gateways to your intentions.
[00:11:38] Speaker D: Unless you have a really good poker face.
[00:11:40] Speaker C: No, no, no. If you have a good poker face, you're already giving yourself away.
[00:11:45] Speaker D: You lost Me there.
[00:11:47] Speaker C: Exactly.
[00:11:49] Speaker B: November street smarts.
I, I just look up and go, paulo, you don't need sunglasses to try to convince people you're cool.
[00:12:01] Speaker C: No, I don't want other people to know about me. That's the thing. I don't care if they think I'm cool or not. They're still paying me for my job. Except for this job.
[00:12:13] Speaker D: Something, something. Knowledge is power.
[00:12:18] Speaker C: Knowledge is power. But power is not money in this case.
[00:12:21] Speaker D: And I have so.
Knowledge is. So Knowledge is power. Power is money. Lack of knowledge is knowledge of money.
I'm so tired.
[00:12:36] Speaker B: I, I, none of this, none of what I'm reading is reminding me of the ritual I saw. I, I really don't think that it's.
I don't know if we're dealing with witches, we're definitely not dealing with demons.
[00:12:59] Speaker D: So we're so not witches, not demons.
Probably not vampires, because vampires don't. Vampires are. The necromancy. They don't do the necromancy.
[00:13:10] Speaker A: That's very true. I mean, we don't fully know, but the more I look at it as, well, November, the more I'm, I'm pretty sure that it's probably not demons. Catriona says, and I mean, it's, it's something. It's more information than we had this morning.
[00:13:37] Speaker C: Director?
[00:13:38] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:13:39] Speaker C: Could I have been looking up stuff to see of all the locations that we know about these similar deaths, could I have been researching to see if there's like any connections, like if they're in specific cities, if the city was near somewhere, if the person was from the city that they were found in, that kind of stuff.
[00:14:02] Speaker A: As I have.
[00:14:06] Speaker C: One of those fold out maps that are in this classroom and I'm literally doing like the yarn or string thing. It's not red because I don't have red string around, but.
[00:14:15] Speaker D: Oh my God, it's the, it's the crazy board.
[00:14:18] Speaker C: Exactly.
[00:14:19] Speaker A: The murder board.
[00:14:20] Speaker D: The murder board.
[00:14:24] Speaker A: Give me a. We'll do a perception knowledge roll.
[00:14:29] Speaker C: Perception knowledge.
[00:14:33] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:14:34] Speaker C: Perception knowledge.
So that's five and two plus seven. That's seven plus seven. That's 14.
[00:14:43] Speaker A: 14. Yeah. You are as you're doing this. It. They, they're not, they're not always from the cities where they're found dead, but there is some, there is something about the sort of the, the order of this, and it's on the tip of your tongue, something about it, the way that, the way that they line up on the map.
[00:15:23] Speaker C: I, I think I will now alert Ari to like, what I'm working On, it's like, okay, no more talk about knowledge.
What am I missing?
These are all the cities of where the people were found dead in the similar killings.
[00:15:39] Speaker D: Yep.
[00:15:39] Speaker C: And reports say they're not always from the same city. So it's not just like they went to the person.
Is there, like, something. It's California, Nevada, Texas, Kansas.
And then Walter has an Ohio license.
[00:16:04] Speaker D: Right, right, right.
[00:16:06] Speaker C: That's. And the state name sounds weird when you say it out loud. Ohio.
[00:16:10] Speaker A: But also, remember, Walter wasn't just. Wasn't a ritual sacrifice.
[00:16:14] Speaker D: Right. He was just.
[00:16:15] Speaker A: Walter was just a puppet.
[00:16:17] Speaker C: Yes, but, like, you know.
[00:16:22] Speaker D: So is there any kind of pattern that I can recognize, looking at this, putting together all the information?
[00:16:36] Speaker A: Yeah, give me an. We'll do an. An occult double.
[00:16:43] Speaker B: Can I come over and give it a look as well?
[00:16:46] Speaker A: Yeah, if you want to do the occult doubled roll as well.
[00:16:49] Speaker D: So is it just a cult? Doubled, or is it a cult like.
[00:16:52] Speaker A: Intelligence you just added. You add a cult twice.
[00:16:55] Speaker D: All right, two seconds to pull out my dice tray. Because every single time I. I roll into a session, I forget to pull up my deck, but I strike.
[00:17:02] Speaker C: Was it Kansas, Texas, or Texas? Kansas.
[00:17:06] Speaker A: Texas. Kansas.
[00:17:08] Speaker E: Yeah.
[00:17:08] Speaker A: Kansas was the most recent one.
[00:17:10] Speaker D: That is actually a natural 10 plus double occultism. So that's a 14 success level.
[00:17:17] Speaker B: Good. I have also rolled a 10 with my cultism is 3, so it's a 16. Very good, good. And very good.
[00:17:28] Speaker D: We're so good at this.
[00:17:30] Speaker A: So between the two of you and the number of successes, it's not necessarily something that a lot of people think about, but with your knowledge and exposure to the occult, ley lines are a thing.
And each one of these is in a nexus of multiple ley lines.
[00:17:54] Speaker D: Ley lines? More like sleigh lines a.
[00:17:59] Speaker B: Their max.
[00:17:59] Speaker A: Technically, yes.
[00:18:01] Speaker D: Rocks fall, everyone dies.
I need you to know that Ari says that out loud.
[00:18:14] Speaker C: And you all said ley lines.
Oh.
[00:18:24] Speaker B: So full moon at a nexus of power.
Killing in a ritual. Someone.
[00:18:32] Speaker D: Why is there a cat in this library?
[00:18:33] Speaker B: Powerful.
[00:18:34] Speaker A: Oh, no, sorry. That's the. The. The history building cat. Just give them attention and they'll settle down.
[00:18:42] Speaker C: Mozzarella.
[00:18:45] Speaker A: Oops.
[00:18:48] Speaker B: Well, thank you.
[00:18:50] Speaker D: Sorry.
[00:18:50] Speaker B: Sometimes he gets plaguey. Thank you. Cat. That's a.
You know, that's.
That cat's a nice distraction from the threat of.
This seems to be quite a mounting threat.
[00:19:15] Speaker C: So whatever the go people, whatever are doing, it's clearly they're trying to do something big.
[00:19:24] Speaker B: I mean, we. We wondered how.
How that.
You know, the. The puppet. Puppeting Walter had to take immense power. Power this.
This is like they've, I don't know, taken every supplement and steroid they could.
[00:19:50] Speaker D: So question. Could they have done that from.
From, like, I don't know, Kansas? Or did. Or would they have had to be, like, right here?
[00:20:00] Speaker B: No, I.
I mean, if they were in Kansas at. In the ley lines, you know?
[00:20:12] Speaker A: Right.
[00:20:14] Speaker B: I think they would have been able to puppet Walter from there.
[00:20:20] Speaker A: So.
[00:20:20] Speaker E: Sorry.
[00:20:20] Speaker D: There's a cat.
[00:20:26] Speaker C: So it looks like they're possibly going on ley lines across the US and.
[00:20:33] Speaker D: Using one to get to the other.
[00:20:34] Speaker E: Maybe.
[00:20:38] Speaker C: And maybe it's some part of the ritual where once they complete a ritual at this Leyline, they've absorbed all the power they can or whatever.
[00:20:45] Speaker D: Right, right, right.
So you want to find out where. Where the Leyline here is.
[00:20:50] Speaker C: The closest leyline on this side of the country.
[00:20:52] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:20:53] Speaker C: Are between Kansas, Ohio and us. Or I guess, between Kansas and us. Is it Ohio?
[00:21:02] Speaker A: I mean, there are many. There are many. The many conflicts of leylines. And like, as you're doing this, Catriona will sort of pull out an older cult tome and sort of show you the way the, like, the leylines end.
And as she's doing this, and she'll say, we all know that places where leylines converge, strange things happen. The Sunnydale in California was a nexus of power.
[00:21:33] Speaker D: And the Hellmouth, it also no longer exists, though. Is that going to happen here?
[00:21:42] Speaker A: We can hope that that's not going to happen as well. We, as far as we know, don't have a Hellmouth beneath this city.
But yes, unfortunately, Cape May is not Cape May. Marlin Bay is a conflux of power with these ley lines.
[00:22:06] Speaker B: Wait, the college has been at the intersection of ley lines this entire time?
[00:22:12] Speaker D: Why do people keep building things on powerful. In powerful places?
[00:22:17] Speaker C: Colonialism.
[00:22:20] Speaker A: Yes, I definitely think that is a part of it then. Generally, we've always had witches and warlocks and people like that want to build places, powerful places. Colleges, you know, and things like that. On top of areas of power.
[00:22:41] Speaker C: Is. Is there some kind of, like, secret ritual chamber on this campus?
[00:22:47] Speaker A: None that I.
[00:22:48] Speaker C: There has to be. Oh, but there has to be.
[00:22:50] Speaker D: Oh, now we gotta go find out.
[00:22:55] Speaker B: Didn't we destroy that statue last year?
[00:22:59] Speaker D: You think of something under it, maybe.
[00:23:02] Speaker B: We never went and looked.
[00:23:05] Speaker D: That's true.
We were more focused on the fact that it was coming alive and killing things.
[00:23:16] Speaker A: Well, and it is at this point that Catriona has her phone on her desk. And it. It rings, and if anybody looks over, you see the name Gideon Post pop up on It.
And she looks over and she goes, oh, okay. He finally called me back. This is the watcher of the first slayer.
And she picks it up.
Yeah, that first one.
And she'll pick it up and say, gideon, yes, thank you for calling me back. And she'll be like, I'll be one second. And is going to leave the room, leaving all three of you in her office.
[00:24:14] Speaker D: I pick up a random book and just start flipping through it.
[00:24:24] Speaker B: I can't imagine the grief that.
[00:24:30] Speaker E: That.
[00:24:30] Speaker B: Man must be going through.
Losing someone that you feel responsible to.
[00:24:44] Speaker D: Losing someone that you are responsible for.
It's a good thing. Good old catcher. I don't have to worry about that because we're badasses and we are not gonna get killed. Right, Jen?
[00:25:01] Speaker A: Jen's not here.
[00:25:04] Speaker C: That's right.
[00:25:04] Speaker D: Jen's not here.
[00:25:06] Speaker A: You're like, Jen. You're like, oh, yeah.
[00:25:10] Speaker D: Oh, yeah. Jen's. Jen's gone to. Around and find out.
[00:25:14] Speaker A: Yeah. Speaking of. Speaking of Jen, where are you headed? It's. It's starting to move into e evening, and you know that most nights you. And sometimes the rest of the group, but usually you and Ari will go patrol, and it's kind of just a very simple walk around. Keep your eyes out for trouble.
[00:25:33] Speaker E: Yeah, I mean, Catriona said as much when I left, and I waved it off with a. Yes, yes, I know, I know. Patrol, patrol, patrol. Especially with this weird Walter thing. That was kind of top of my list anyway. But of course, I can't let them know that I'm, like, on top of it so much because that would be strange for me sometimes. So I am definitely kind of taking a look around. I'm a little peckish right now.
You know, the hot chocolate was great, but I'd like a little something to nibble on. So I'll probably stop by a vending machine, grab some sort of snack. Probably Cheez Its and then. Or Flaming hot Cheetos, but they tend to be out. But it's the beginning of the school year, so maybe they're in stock.
And then, yeah, just kind of take a. Take a gander. Like, do. Do a wide circle, seeing if there's anybody else that maybe is, like, Walter or, you know, resembles Walter.
[00:26:40] Speaker A: Yeah, if you want to give me that, we'll do.
We'll do just a general perception. Perception plus notice.
[00:26:53] Speaker E: Unfortunately, that's only a 10, so it's adequate.
[00:26:59] Speaker A: Look, people in black hoodies is a pretty common thing, so you're seeing a lot of people in black hoodies, but not necessarily with the same kind of like body language as Walter. So.
[00:27:18] Speaker E: And no. No weird slayer senses tingling at any point. Just people mulling about doing whatever they're doing.
[00:27:28] Speaker A: No, there is, There is a moment you're. You're. You're walking off campus and you are walking by one of the places probably, you know, headed to. Headed just off campus for a little bit to walk around the town.
And you, you get that feeling.
And as you're walking by one of the parking lots and do you look over?
[00:27:56] Speaker E: Oh yeah, absolutely. Any. Anytime you get that weird gut feeling, you gotta listen to it. Like, you know, people, people always think, oh, you can't trust it because like, you know, that's paranoia if every time you have a gut feeling you react to it. But like, no, like this is, this is something that humans have honed over centuries. And slayers, you know, I would like to think that ours can definitely be more trustworthy and should be trusted at all times. So 100%, yes.
[00:28:27] Speaker A: As you are walking by this parking lot, it's.
We'll say it is like right next to the. The antique store that's very close to campus Fridays antiques. You feel that sort of slayer sense going off. And you look over and all you see at first is this person's back. They're sort of leaning against, you know, the front sort of the hood of a car.
And they've got their head tilted up as they blow out some smoke.
And you sort of see this sort of long hair that sort of falls around the shoulders of this sort of male. Ish male figure, kind of on a very slight build on this person wearing sort of dark clothing, sort of a flannel wrapped around like tight around their waist.
And even from the back you're pretty sure you know who this is. You haven't seen them in a bit. They kind of left town a while. Left town is a thing is they went to New York for a bit and I guess they're back now. You're. You're relatively sure this is. This is Desmond, who's a vampire who you're on not destroy terms with. He's helped you out before.
[00:30:00] Speaker E: I let out a little bit of a sigh because it, it's really annoying when the slayer senses go off and it's just Desmond because he's not.
He's proven to not be somebody that I have to worry about nearly as much as everybody else. So like, there's that moment where I'm kind of on high alert and then I realize that it's him.
And since His. His back is to me. I. Same as. Same as Walter, I guess. It's kind of my move. I just walk up and I just clap him on the shoulder and I just say, long time no see, bud.
[00:30:45] Speaker A: He looks over at you and sort of gives you a megawatt smile, just big beaming smile and just say, yeah.
I couldn't stay away for a long. Knew you'd miss me too much.
[00:31:01] Speaker E: Oh, yeah, that's absolutely the vibe. How did you know? How did you know?
No, for reals, though. Like, why are you back?
[00:31:13] Speaker A: We are fun for a bit. No, it's cracked up to be, you know, there's way too many people.
[00:31:19] Speaker E: A lot like piss.
[00:31:21] Speaker A: Yeah, there's that and there's way too many. Just other people. It just becomes supernatural. Dick measuring like 90% of the time.
[00:31:32] Speaker E: Yeah, I can. I. I get that. Can see how that would be the case.
Well, you've come at a fantastic time and I just kind of like, sit up on the car that he's leaning up against. I don't even know if it's his car. It could just be some random person's car. And I. I don't care.
[00:31:56] Speaker A: I don't think he cares too much either.
[00:31:59] Speaker E: Fair.
[00:32:02] Speaker A: That's first. First day classes, right?
[00:32:08] Speaker E: Yeah, but that is not why it's interesting. I can't imagine that you're enrolled in anything particularly interesting, Augustine, at all, really.
[00:32:19] Speaker A: I went to any kind of school. Was 91.
[00:32:28] Speaker E: Yeah.
I was not born anyway, so.
Look, I.
I don't believe in coincidences. So you coming back here, I. I have to. I have to know if you know what's going on or what happened today or what's been going on across.
[00:33:10] Speaker A: It really depends. You got to be a little bit more specific and.
[00:33:13] Speaker E: Oh, my God. Why. Why me? Why can't. Why, like, why do you. Why do. Why am I the one who found you? Why can't it be one of the nerds? Like, I don't.
And I'm going to hop off the car and I'm just going to kind of like, pull at his jacket because we're too close to other people. And I don't really need to be talking about stuff like where other folks are.
And as we're kind of like walking around and I'm still keeping eyes out, I just say, look, there's been a string of deaths across the country. A very specific.
At least the first one. I mean, you can assume, right, that the others are. But at least one of them is, you know, like me and Ari and my Favorite people.
You.
Anyway, so, no, just.
Yeah, and then we had a. We had a little run in with this weird guy who turned out to be some sort of dead zombie soul puppet thing.
Looked like he was a marionette, but you couldn't see the strings, I guess. Well, unless you're November, who can apparently see everything about everything all the time.
Oh, important question. Important question for the director.
When was the last time Desmond was back here? Does he know about November and Jen breaking up? Like, was he here for that?
[00:35:02] Speaker A: Yes, he was. He left shortly after. Like, he left, like, near the end of the school year. Because it was like, ah, you know, you nerds got it for this summer. You know, maybe you'll see me again, maybe you won't. And he's back.
[00:35:14] Speaker E: Okay. Okay, great. So. Yes, so I make that comment about November seeing all the things, apparently with this air of, you know.
But, yeah, so a dude was apparently dead for like a day already.
So, you know, we hit him in the sea caves. They'll find him eventually. But I.
[00:35:40] Speaker A: Old sea caves.
[00:35:41] Speaker E: I know, I know. I. Honestly, it's. It's amazing that they aren't more heavily patrolled, given how many bodies wind up there magically anyway.
Yeah. So, I mean, given. Given what's happened. Oh, and. Yeah, that's right. And Walter said something about how we're going to die, I guess, or insinuated the we were going to die and there was somebody called the father and the family, and. I don't know, I left the others to figure it out because that's not my bag. But.
Yeah, so.
[00:36:23] Speaker A: Sounds like a cult.
[00:36:24] Speaker E: Welcome back. Well, of course it's a cult, Desmond.
Like, I'm not that smart, but I'm not that dumb either.
[00:36:35] Speaker A: They hold his hands up, just being like, well, I haven't heard anything. Wasn't paying attention too much, you know, New York, lots of things going on, but, you know, I know people. I can see if anyone's heard anything because there are like, a bajillion slayers now, ever since Buffy did that thing. So, you know, it's less momentous when a slayer dies, but people still take notice.
[00:37:07] Speaker E: Yeah, I mean, it's still a thing, Right? And I mean, you know, Catriona, I guess, knew the first one's watcher, but doesn't know the other one, so can't confirm if they're slayers. But, you know, I mean, we can. We can assume, but.
Yeah, I mean, if you. If you hear anything, let me know.
Until then, I mean, according to what we figured out, so Far, we've got about a month because the killings, I guess, happen on the full moon. And, you know, that was yesterday, so we got a month because that's how.
[00:37:51] Speaker A: The moon works, so. So it's very true. Yeah. Generally, it's like a whole. Yeah, it's. It's like a cycle.
[00:38:00] Speaker E: It's weird.
[00:38:00] Speaker A: Yeah.
Well, I most certainly will let you know if any of the little things that go bump in the night, like, start chatting about anything in particular.
See if anybody I know is still in town. Haven't killed them all. Right.
[00:38:22] Speaker E: No, I mean, I. That would be. I think it would be really obvious if we killed them all. Just the ones that are causing problems.
[00:38:30] Speaker A: It's fair. Fair. Fair.
[00:38:32] Speaker E: I often have too much on my plate to kill all of them, so, like, I only. Only the ones that stand out, you know, just.
[00:38:41] Speaker A: It's fair. It's very fair. It's a good. That's a good way to do it. Um.
Yeah. You let the rest of your friends know.
You know, if I need hear anything, I'll let any of you know.
[00:38:54] Speaker E: All right. Same number.
[00:38:57] Speaker A: Same number.
[00:38:59] Speaker E: Great. And I'm gonna pull out my phone and I'm just gonna text the groom chat, Dee's back in town, period. And that's it. Nothing more.
[00:39:12] Speaker A: And, yeah, sort of flipping back over to the. The rest of the Slayer squad. You. You know, we'll pick back up with you getting the text. D is back in town.
[00:39:28] Speaker D: I think there's this. A mix of emotions that y'all see across my face, and then I just text back, you know, anything?
[00:39:47] Speaker E: No. Period.
[00:39:50] Speaker D: Roll, rolling eyes emoji.
[00:39:56] Speaker C: All right.
[00:40:00] Speaker D: He staying this time or.
[00:40:05] Speaker E: Until he decides he wants to leave, period.
[00:40:12] Speaker D: That's so unhelpful.
[00:40:17] Speaker C: I'm going to text back. Is the ice cream shop still open?
[00:40:25] Speaker E: Director, what time of day is it right now?
[00:40:28] Speaker A: It's like, eight at night at this point.
[00:40:32] Speaker E: Oh, I text back yes, period. Obviously, period.
[00:40:42] Speaker C: Cool.
I'm gonna look at Ari in November. It's like. And Katriana, this is a lot. I think I'm gonna go get some ice cream.
[00:40:54] Speaker D: Oh, I want some. Let's go.
[00:40:56] Speaker A: Katrina is still on this phone call, talking quietly with Gideon.
[00:41:03] Speaker B: Yeah, I. I guess I will.
I mean, you invited all of us sometimes you've invited all of us along, right? Like, yeah, November's included, so I guess I will.
I'll. I.
Yeah, you know, it's the first aid school.
[00:41:28] Speaker E: Yeah.
[00:41:29] Speaker B: Might as well, I guess.
[00:41:31] Speaker D: More accurately, it's not that they invited us along, it's that they didn't. They didn't say we couldn't come.
[00:41:36] Speaker A: Yeah, this is true.
[00:41:40] Speaker C: Paolo would also just, like, look at both of you and, like, did you want to come along? They would actually ask. I would ask.
[00:41:46] Speaker D: I would be halfway through the oh, I'm coming sentence.
[00:41:49] Speaker C: Good.
And then I'm gonna send.
But I send it in the group chat, or I'm gonna send it in the group chat to Jen's, like, hey, we're getting ice cream at the place you work at.
I don't know if you want to come to work on your day.
[00:42:11] Speaker B: But.
[00:42:11] Speaker C: We'Re getting ice cream.
[00:42:16] Speaker E: I stare at this.
I just kind of, like, drop my shoulders and stare up because, no, I don't want to be in that ice cream shop any more often than I already have to.
And I just look down and I say, two scoops. Mint chip in a bowl with a lid, period.
[00:42:42] Speaker C: You get a finger guns emoji.
[00:42:45] Speaker D: Is that an emoji?
[00:42:47] Speaker B: I think you can just make it in emoticon.
[00:42:50] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:42:52] Speaker E: It should be noted, by the way, Jen never uses emojis, literally ever.
[00:43:00] Speaker A: Which is so.
[00:43:01] Speaker C: Yeah, I use them all the time.
[00:43:03] Speaker A: Yeah, exactly.
[00:43:04] Speaker E: Yeah.
[00:43:04] Speaker A: So you. You have this conversation as you leave Catriona to continue her conversation and you all walk out of the history building. And I need the three of you to give me a perception. Occult role.
[00:43:21] Speaker D: Oh, I do leave Catriona a note just saying, went to get ice cream.
[00:43:28] Speaker A: Oh, she heard you.
[00:43:29] Speaker D: Oh, oh, that's right. Yeah, she. Right there.
In that case, I turned to look at her. Rocky road.
[00:43:35] Speaker A: Yeah, she'll nod.
[00:43:37] Speaker D: Excellent.
Oh. Oh, dear.
You said a cult.
[00:43:43] Speaker A: A cult. Notice.
[00:43:46] Speaker B: Oh, cult and notice.
[00:43:47] Speaker A: Wait.
[00:43:48] Speaker D: Yep, seven.
[00:43:54] Speaker B: I rolled good. I rolled a 13.
[00:43:59] Speaker C: I got a natural 10, so it's gonna mean I have a 17.
[00:44:06] Speaker A: 17. Okay, so, Ari, you just have general. Just slayer senses going off. And then the rest of the other two of you feel like something hits your chest in this moment, like a wave of force.
And you sort of look over and you notice that one of the dorm buildings.
There are some people at being a wool weird over there. There's some people that are leaving, and there seems to be two people who are having a fight out front. Very loudly.
[00:44:45] Speaker C: I really wanted some ice cream.
[00:44:48] Speaker B: Is. Can I look around with my sight? Do I. Is. Is this like a magical moment or just general social awkwardness?
[00:45:02] Speaker A: It is like a beacon.
[00:45:10] Speaker B: Like the people themselves were arguing or.
[00:45:12] Speaker A: Glowing or the entire building and everyone around it is close.
[00:45:18] Speaker C: Oh, concern.
[00:45:20] Speaker D: Oh, dear.
Oh, dear.
[00:45:26] Speaker C: Well, we gotta go check it out.
[00:45:29] Speaker D: And I love that I just don't notice this. I'm just like, is.
[00:45:33] Speaker B: Is that. Is that your guys's dorm building? Do you guys know anyone who lives there? Because my.
[00:45:38] Speaker E: But.
[00:45:39] Speaker B: Oh, it's like, I. I think it's worse than asbestos.
[00:45:49] Speaker E: Director, whose dorm building is it?
[00:45:54] Speaker A: Let's see.
It's yours, Jen.
[00:45:58] Speaker E: Of course it is. Of course it is.
[00:46:06] Speaker C: Not even, like.
Not even in a text message. I think Paulo just takes out their phone and does, like, one of the voice messages into the group chat, but it sounds like.
It sounds like they're just like, something bad. No ice cream. There's storm building. And yeah, as I'm, like, running poorly.
Get here now.
[00:46:33] Speaker D: And I add on as a text message, your building is glowing.
[00:46:42] Speaker B: I think I'm gonna go to something maybe a little bit.
A little bit reckless, but also.
Well, actually, no. The first thing. I think the first thing I'm gonna do is try to get people out. Like, we should. We should. We should get people out of there, like, now. I don't know what's going on.
[00:47:05] Speaker A: So as you. As you approach this building, you could hear the two people out front are arguing.
And it's. It's. It's. It's escalating and it's. It seems to feel like they're. There's.
They are arguing over what appears to be, like, the fact that one of them didn't tell the other that a specific food wasn't their favorites.
[00:47:42] Speaker C: Are.
Well, I can't tell if they're glowing, but I'll look because I know that November has, like, glowing vision. Just November? You said they're glowing. How much are. Are these people glowing, too? As, like, we're just out of your shot, right?
[00:48:00] Speaker E: Right about this time. Right about this time, you get a text back from me that just says, how high are you all? Question mark.
[00:48:11] Speaker D: Can I take a look around and see if there is anyone who is either not glowing or seems to be not.
[00:48:19] Speaker A: Do you have the sight?
[00:48:21] Speaker D: Shit, no, I don't.
[00:48:22] Speaker A: Yeah, it's the Saffron.
[00:48:24] Speaker D: Is there anyone who's not glowing?
[00:48:26] Speaker B: I mean, Art November, I'm assuming you said just the building is glowing.
[00:48:31] Speaker A: So, like, the building. Anybody who's coming out of the building? There are a few people who, like, there's like, one person who comes by just, like, why didn't you tell me you hated my mother? And, you know, the, like, the. You know, everyone is in this. That's coming out of this building is glowing.
[00:48:50] Speaker B: Who isn't glowing. There's nobody who's you aren't glowing. Paulo isn't glowing.
[00:48:58] Speaker C: I see, I see, I see, I see, I see, I see.
[00:49:00] Speaker D: Actually, I have a terrible idea.
[00:49:04] Speaker C: Are you going to run in?
[00:49:05] Speaker B: Yeah, I am just.
[00:49:10] Speaker C: Paulo wants to go to the two people arguing and just like, hey, who. Okay, we get it. Pizza is your favorite. Why are you two yelling? Why is everyone running?
[00:49:22] Speaker A: And then one person just says, because this person was. Because they were lying to me, and I thought I knew them.
[00:49:28] Speaker C: Why is everyone else running? Did you lie to them, too?
[00:49:33] Speaker A: They were like, wow, we just started this conversation.
[00:49:39] Speaker C: Okay, why don't you go to the fountain over there? Or there's this really great ice cream place at insert address here that maybe you should go to to cool off. And they have pizza. They have rocky road fudge. You could go there. Just get away from this building.
[00:49:59] Speaker A: Give me a perception influence.
[00:50:08] Speaker C: I have both of those things. Okay. I don't need two D10. I'm thinking vampire. Okay.
[00:50:15] Speaker D: Close.
[00:50:21] Speaker C: I would definitely like to use a drama point, because even with my plus six, that's a seven, which means I rolled a one.
[00:50:32] Speaker D: Oh.
[00:50:33] Speaker C: So I would like to use a drama point, please, Director.
[00:50:37] Speaker A: All right.
[00:50:38] Speaker C: Because I have so many of them, which will bump it up to a 17.
[00:50:49] Speaker A: A 17. Okay. Yeah. You're able to.
They continue to argue as they move away until they get about 40ft away from the dorm.
They suddenly stop glowing.
November. And they seem very confused as to what they were even arguing about.
[00:51:14] Speaker B: I will just shout, ari, pull the fire alarm.
[00:51:19] Speaker D: Great. I'm already on my way in, so I'm just going to go ahead and jog on in and locate the nearest fire alarm.
[00:51:28] Speaker C: There should be one for the entrance.
[00:51:32] Speaker A: Yeah, there is one pretty close. To say that this is chaos in the apartment building is an understatement.
There are outright fist fights.
It is.
If you've seen a. How, you know, movies treat college dorms, it's suddenly become one of those.
[00:51:55] Speaker D: I'm going to do that thing where, like, you walk through everything in that way where you're just like, I am powerful and I don't care.
Essentially just, like, on my way, like, grabbing people, being like, go outside.
Fight on the quad, not here.
And I'm just gonna go. I'm just gonna head and pull the fire alarm. And I'm. And I'm not going to leave once I pull a fire alarm. Um, because I am also kind of aware that there are some people who may simply choose to continue to fight.
[00:52:27] Speaker A: Oh, yeah. Instead of.
[00:52:29] Speaker D: Instead of dealing with a fire alarm. So I'm going to go through the building.
But let's start with the fire alarm.
[00:52:36] Speaker A: Yeah, you do that. I. I will say, like, Jen, you weren't that far away when you got the message. So you can join everybody at roughly about this time.
[00:52:48] Speaker E: Yeah, I. I sent the text, but like, I was. I was moving in this direction as I was.
[00:52:53] Speaker D: And I would definitely. I would definitely text as I was heading inside. Jen, gonna need backup.
[00:53:01] Speaker B: I think as Jen shows up, you're gonna see me do something very stupid, which is I am going to touch the building with my. Touch the butt with my psychometry powers.
[00:53:22] Speaker A: Psychometry. Does that have a roll with it?
[00:53:24] Speaker B: Yes, I believe it does.
It is to use the ability, you must touch the object and roll. Perception or perception and notice.
[00:53:35] Speaker A: We'll do perception. Notice.
[00:53:37] Speaker B: Okay.
Okay. That is 15. That is level four. Very good. Level four, which means I can. Impressions can go back one year or less. Visions are granted about the owner, wielder of the object or those in contact with it.
The level reveals most of the powers and use of supernatural items. This level also reveals a bit more information about powerful events that happened many years ago or centuries before.
And yeah, even show glimpses of victims face or general sense of why a sacrifice was being performed. If it involves a human sacrifice, I guess I see it all, baby.
[00:54:33] Speaker A: See it all.
Well, you see, it's incredibly recent that this has happened. And you.
You do this. And you see this.
You don't know who she is. But somebody did a ritual in the basement. You watch.
And it's a truth ritual.
And because you have touched the building and are affected by the aura. November, you must tell the truth to anyone who asks you for the next hour.
[00:55:32] Speaker D: Oh, this is going to be so interesting. Oh, my God.
[00:55:36] Speaker A: And if you want, you can attempt to lie, but it is a roll.
[00:55:42] Speaker B: Ah.
[00:55:44] Speaker A: And how much you succeed is how much you can lie.
[00:55:52] Speaker B: I see.
[00:55:54] Speaker A: But you are very aware that right now as you touch this building, you can't see.
You know this. You know that you will not be able to tell a lie.
[00:56:12] Speaker B: Am I able to?
Since I rolled really pretty, very good. And I. I could see that there's this. This woman in the basement who, who cast this truth spell. Do I know if she's still there? Do I know anything about her, her motivations? Like, did I see her face and, like, get a sense of what she's feeling? Or do I just feel this, like, powerful, like, need to be to tell the truth?
[00:56:43] Speaker A: It's heartbreak.
It's heartbreak. She's still There. She's in the basement. It's.
Something went wrong with this spell. More likely not. This person didn't even know this was, like, this person.
Not a witch.
But, you know, you're aware that even if you aren't a witch, if you do things correctly, quote unquote, you can still sometimes do magic. And you did just learn that this place is a place of power.
[00:57:22] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:57:24] Speaker A: So that is like connecting a car battery to a cell phone.
[00:57:33] Speaker B: I pull my hand away from the wall and I'm breathing very hard and sweating. And just like.
It's almost as if for a brief moment, I was also jacked up to the car battery.
[00:57:55] Speaker E: I mean, since I've. Since I've just shown up and watched November do this, and I see this weird aftermath, I'm going to run up and just. Are you okay?
[00:58:06] Speaker B: No.
[00:58:11] Speaker E: What. What happened? What did you, like, what's.
I'm not going to touch the building because obviously there's something weird with the building.
And at this point, I think. I think that, like, if I touch the building, it's going to happen to me, too.
So I just hover around the outside of the building. I say, what happened? What did you see?
[00:58:37] Speaker B: There's a girl in the basement.
Her heart's been broken. She didn't know what she was doing.
She cast a spell. A truth spell. Everyone, you have to tell the truth. I have to tell you the truth.
Can I roll to try to resist not saying more?
[00:58:59] Speaker A: Yes. Give me a.
We're gonna do a. We're gonna do a willpower roll. Just willpower.
[00:59:09] Speaker C: Cool.
[00:59:10] Speaker B: So I roll plus willpower?
[00:59:12] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:59:14] Speaker B: Okay. Have to roll a 5 or above.
[00:59:17] Speaker D: I believe in you.
[00:59:18] Speaker A: Kind of.
[00:59:19] Speaker B: Nope. I rolled two, so it's a six.
[00:59:24] Speaker A: Yeah. You can't lie right now.
[00:59:27] Speaker B: My mom taught me how to do this, but, like, it's new. I still. So I don't really know how to control. It's really overwhelming. And. And I. I. I feel. I feel. I feel that heartbreak.
[00:59:40] Speaker E: I. I know.
[00:59:40] Speaker B: What. I know what. This. This.
I've been feeling it almost every day since I left, and I really don't. I don't want you to hear all of this, so please, please just go and stop her, but don't hurt her, because she didn't know what she was doing. I don't know what I'm doing. Jen, Don't. I don't. Don't listen to me.
I don't want you to listen to me.
Please don't look at me.
[01:00:10] Speaker E: Okay?
And I avert my eyes and I'm still here and processing everything that was just rambled at me, not said to me, because that is not what just happened at all, even remotely. And this is not the time or the place to get into any of it. So I just say.
Okay, you said girl in the basement. Yeah.
[01:00:46] Speaker B: Yes. She's in the basement.
[01:00:48] Speaker E: Okay. Okay. She's great.
[01:00:50] Speaker B: Still in the basement. I think she's still in the basement. This just happened. She just cast the spell. But it's powerful. The building is very powerful. This whole campus is really powerful.
[01:01:00] Speaker E: Okay, question. What do you mean the whole campus is really powerful?
[01:01:06] Speaker B: They're ley lines. We found out they're ley lines.
[01:01:10] Speaker E: Of course there are the family.
[01:01:11] Speaker B: They're killing people at Slayers, we think on Full Moon, at center, at the intersection of Leylands, at powerful intersections. They're coming here because you are here and Ari is here, and you are slayers and you are powerful. And this campus, this town, is another intersection of ley lines.
Cool.
[01:01:33] Speaker E: Awesome.
Can I. Can I go in the building without being affected by this? Should I not touch anything? You don't.
[01:01:40] Speaker B: Don't touch anything. You probably will be affected. You could be affected, but you are stronger than me, so you probably will be able to resist it.
[01:01:52] Speaker E: Okay, great. And I'm going to try and move around November because I'm still very much not looking at him. Just I. Nope, nope. Not touching that. And I'm gonna find my way towards the front of the dorm and then head on in.
[01:02:18] Speaker B: I'm gonna sit down on the ground.
[01:02:22] Speaker C: Hello?
[01:02:22] Speaker A: Are you doing anything?
[01:02:24] Speaker C: I'm just standing there. Like, I heard all that.
[01:02:28] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:02:30] Speaker C: Huh. I don't want to go into the place where I'm forced to tell the truth.
Wait, do we let the person with the worst luck in there by themselves?
[01:02:38] Speaker B: Yes.
[01:02:39] Speaker C: Oh, Jen Hori.
[01:02:47] Speaker D: Sorry, I'm just in there and an actual fire starts.
[01:02:53] Speaker E: Oh, no, don't say it.
[01:02:57] Speaker A: Yeah. No. You are currently trying to restrain two football players who both realize that they both like the same girl that are kind of like, coming to blows. Because it's like the whole power is just like you're telling the truth, and then your emotions are amped up to.
[01:03:17] Speaker C: 11, not the toxic masculine.
[01:03:19] Speaker D: Okay, both of you go fight outside.
[01:03:26] Speaker A: Yeah. Like, Jen, this is.
[01:03:30] Speaker E: Going to be.
[01:03:30] Speaker D: A whole crowd out there going, fight, fight, fight. So do it outside.
[01:03:33] Speaker E: This is. This is right about the time that I kind of walk in and I see Ari trying to talk to these people, and I obviously, obviously see it's not going to work. So I'm Just gonna walk up and just one, two punch on each of the football players because we don't have time for this.
[01:03:49] Speaker D: Oh, Jen. Hi.
[01:03:52] Speaker E: Hi. Yeah, so, yeah. Thanks. Girl in the basement, she cast a spell. She doesn't know what she's doing. We should just go and get her.
So.
[01:04:04] Speaker D: Great. Okay. I just, like, unceremoniously dropped these two.
Great. Where's the basement again? If you stay below us, I will leave.
[01:04:24] Speaker E: This way. And I just walked towards the staircase.
[01:04:30] Speaker A: Yeah. The two of you outside, like, the, the fire alarm seemed to be very, very, very successful. Like, a lot of people are coming out, and you can kind of see that, like, teachers from other buildings and other people are showing up, being like, what's going on? Why did somebody pull the fire alarm on day one?
[01:04:52] Speaker B: Such a good, Such a good start.
[01:04:54] Speaker C: To the school year of Paulo is going to, like, stand next to November and is, like, cautiously reaching out toward, like, I'm reaching out towards her shoulder. I'm like.
So I know you're feeling a lot right now. You just said it.
Do you want to go help? Should we stay out here? Should we just make sure nothing else bad happens? What do we, what do we tell. Maybe you shouldn't talk to anyone right now.
[01:05:17] Speaker B: Yes, I want to help. Yes. I, I, I don't want. I do. I think staying out here is a good idea because I don't know how I can help. What was your other questions?
[01:05:32] Speaker C: I was just going to say what we should tell the other people, but then I don't think you should talk to other people right now.
[01:05:38] Speaker B: Yes, you should talk to other people. Don't. But just. It's just, it's not.
Fire alarm. Someone burnt their popcorn in the microwave. That always happens.
[01:05:55] Speaker C: Always happens. Okay, just.
[01:05:59] Speaker A: It's a classic.
[01:06:00] Speaker C: Exactly. And I'm like, reaching out, like, do I do. Do if I, if I touch you, do I become truthful? Is that how what works?
[01:06:10] Speaker B: No, you have to be inside the building or touch the building.
[01:06:13] Speaker C: Okay, well, then hurry up. Get up. You can't be sitting out here. We don't know if we're gonna get trampled.
[01:06:20] Speaker B: I will stand up.
It's very, like, you know, kind of post panic attack, like, very shaky and weak feeling.
[01:06:36] Speaker C: And then, like, I'm going to grab you by your shoulders and, like, look, like I just said, you're feeling a lot, but right now, right now, we gotta make sure they stop all that. And if those two get in trouble, then we're kind of.
So, yeah, we're gonna go in, start blabbering. Right now. I don't think inside no one's gonna really pay attention to you. So we're probably unfortunately safer in there. I'm gonna do my best to not touch anything. So I'm gonna have you lead since you're already affected by this thing. Okay.
[01:07:06] Speaker B: Where do you want me you go.
[01:07:08] Speaker C: I mean we have to go to the basement. Like what if they're like. Of course Jen and Ari are super like competent, but we don't know what's going to happen.
Punch the girl and not by anything. If this person is like control or out of control, they may attack them first.
[01:07:27] Speaker B: Yeah, okay, you know, let's, I'll take.
[01:07:30] Speaker C: A hit if Jen doesn't have to kill anyone.
[01:07:34] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, let's, let's, let's go. And you are a good friend.
[01:07:41] Speaker C: I would say you don't mean that, but I don't know right now. Okay, let's go.
[01:07:48] Speaker A: Yes. So you two follow in I think just as to a point where Jen, Ari have linked up now and have had that conversation. You watched them start moving towards way of the basement is.
So you are doing that. You. It's basement door, it's propped open usually like down here because it's like boiler room and stuff, you know, usually locked but somebody's propped it open for some reason.
[01:08:23] Speaker D: Can we hear anything?
Like the sound of heartbroken sobbing?
[01:08:28] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah, you can definitely hear that. There is the sound of sobbing. There is like the sound of, you know, generally, you know you would hear in like a basement. You know, you can kind of hear like the sound of the boiler and the stuff. But yes, yeah, just being, just hearing that. It's. So who is leading this charge? Is it Jen?
[01:08:52] Speaker E: Yeah, it's definitely me. I've got acute senses hearing. So you know, and, and with my fast reaction time and nerves of steel, I tend to be the one to, to take the, the lead just because I'm kind of the most well positioned to do it. Also it's my building, so I know the, the layout. I mean the layout of the buildings isn't that incredibly different. But I don't assume that Ari has spent a bunch of time in her dorm basement.
It's not important why I've spent time in mine.
[01:09:24] Speaker A: We're not going to talk about the spider demon?
[01:09:26] Speaker E: No.
So yes, I am definitely leading. Uh huh.
[01:09:34] Speaker D: I have concerns.
[01:09:36] Speaker E: Don't worry about it.
[01:09:38] Speaker D: See, every time someone says don't worry about it, it's usually something to worry about.
[01:09:42] Speaker A: So spider demon was past tense. We dealt with that. Last season.
[01:09:47] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:09:52] Speaker A: It was. It was one of the weird episodes. It was like, you know, we were all experimental. It was like just one person. You know, minimal. Minimal stuff.
[01:10:03] Speaker E: We couldn't schedule the rest of the cast, so, you know, conflicts. But we had to put something out. So.
[01:10:10] Speaker A: Yeah.
So, yeah, you two, the two slayers, lead the church down the stairs into the basement. You can kind of see. It's, like, a little off in the distance, so you wouldn't see it from the door, but you can kind of see the glow of candle light followed with the continued sobbing.
[01:10:27] Speaker D: So what I'm hearing is the fire alarm. There is a fire.
There are a series of small fires.
[01:10:35] Speaker E: Yeah, of course. Yes, absolutely.
So I'm not. I'm not rushing. I obviously don't want to.
If there's more than just this one person, I don't want to be, like, incredibly surprised. So I'm trying to move as quick as possible, but, like, by. I'll also make as little noise as possible because I would like to see whoever's in the room before they see and. Or hear us.
[01:11:05] Speaker A: Yeah, give me a. We'll do a deck stealth roll.
[01:11:09] Speaker D: Do you want that from both of us?
[01:11:10] Speaker A: Yes, if both of you are trying to move quietly.
[01:11:13] Speaker D: I don't see stealth on the thingy or stealth.
[01:11:17] Speaker A: There's the.
[01:11:20] Speaker D: There's acrobatics.
Okay, cool. So, Dex, crime acrobatics.
[01:11:29] Speaker A: Yeah, Acrobatics would work.
[01:11:31] Speaker E: Acrobatics would better.
[01:11:33] Speaker D: Oh, my God. Y'all were being gay and doing crime.
[01:11:36] Speaker E: Okay, Are so. That is a 20, which is an excellent.
[01:11:42] Speaker D: Mine is a 16, which is very good.
[01:11:47] Speaker A: 16. Yeah. Are the other two trying to move silently as well?
[01:11:54] Speaker B: Oh, us?
[01:11:55] Speaker A: Yes.
[01:11:59] Speaker C: I don't know. I think we're just trying to get there.
[01:12:01] Speaker B: We probably are just kind of rushing after them. We might.
Are we being subtle?
[01:12:08] Speaker C: I don't think so. I. I literally don't think, because we. We saw them go in, and, like, maybe we saw them right as they're, like, turning a corner or something and, like. Or maybe not even seen. I don't know. But I don't think we're being subtle. I think we're just going in.
[01:12:23] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:12:25] Speaker A: So Jen, you do, like, a perfect, like, you know, flip off of these stairs and land silently. And, Ari, you also land silently, and then, boom, the door throws open as the other two sort of rush in and, like, almost, like, triple fall down these stairs.
[01:12:44] Speaker D: I'm imagining, like, both Jen and I just turning and being like.
[01:12:51] Speaker C: You just hear slam, slam, slam, slam. Sam, Sam. Sam, Sam, Sam.
[01:12:56] Speaker E: Could you be any louder?
[01:13:00] Speaker C: Yes.
[01:13:01] Speaker D: Say that out loud. They might actually do it.
[01:13:03] Speaker B: Yes, actually, I. I do think I could be much. Okay, please, louder.
[01:13:07] Speaker D: Please don't.
[01:13:08] Speaker A: Please don't.
[01:13:08] Speaker D: Okay, louder.
[01:13:09] Speaker B: Please.
[01:13:09] Speaker D: Be quiet, both of you.
[01:13:10] Speaker C: Sh.
[01:13:12] Speaker D: You too. Let's play the quiet game.
[01:13:16] Speaker C: Like, being quiet. Am I talking?
[01:13:20] Speaker E: November is not very good at being quiet.
[01:13:23] Speaker D: I glance over at Jen and I'm like, do you think it's socially acceptable to gag your friends?
[01:13:29] Speaker E: I mean, I guess it depends.
[01:13:30] Speaker C: You have to ask us for anyway.
[01:13:32] Speaker D: Any magic spell for yes.
[01:13:37] Speaker E: And I'm. I'm going to get back to the task at hand and just tell, like, motion for the two of them to wait, I guess, while this is happening, like, has anything changed? Like, did the crying stop? Has it picked back up again? Do I hear movement?
[01:13:55] Speaker A: Yeah, it's stopped. And like, you. You know it. You kind of hear a small voice go, hello.
[01:14:10] Speaker E: At this point, I'm just going to quickly, while still moving quietly, walk over to the door and just kind of poke my head in. Ari doesn't need to be right there, but, like, just kind of like stay behind me. Theoretically, we can move quietly enough that it's not obvious that there's a whole bunch of people and I can just play it off like I'm the clumsy fool who fell down the stairs, pop my head in.
Is there just this one person?
[01:14:43] Speaker A: Yeah, it appears so. As you pop your head into this sort of small area, you see this pretty sure is freshman.
You know, looks just very wide eyed, you know, scared, kind of, you know, has been crying quite a bit, is kind of like curled up in one of the corners and you see a kind of decently done ritual circle with all the proper, you know, items and stuff, though in the center instead of, you know, like an actual, like grimoire or anything. It looks like printed directions from the Internet.
[01:15:24] Speaker E: Amazing. Wonderful. So I pop my head in and I say, hey there, my name is Jen. Who are you?
And I'm gonna start. Natalie. Hi, Natalie. I'm gonna start walking into the room and as I'm gonna get close because what I would like to do is kind of like start fucking up the ritual circle with my boots as I. As I'm walking close.
So.
So what you.
What you got there?
Are those directions for a spell that you have printed off the Internet?
[01:16:12] Speaker A: Yeah, I just, you know, I always, like, kind of interested in things like this, and it seemed like a really good idea at the time.
[01:16:27] Speaker E: Yeah, yeah.
Did she get broken up with?
Yeah, yeah, yeah. And I'M I. Hopefully I've made it to the circle now, and I'm gonna start, like. You know, if there's, like, stuff drawn on the ground, I'm gonna start, you know, kind of trying to erase it with my feet or if there's like, candles or whatever, just kind of like knock them over and stamp them out, hoping that this will have some effect. I'm not magically inclined, but I'm just kind of assuming based on other things that we've done. So I'm hoping it'll help.
Yeah. So here's the thing.
Probably shouldn't do it on school grounds, first off, but also, you've made everybody's lives in this building really, really suck. Because now here's the fun thing. Everybody in here is telling the truth. And it's really bad because people need to be able to lie to each other. Because if people can't lie to each other, then there's, like, lawlessness and, like, everybody gets mad at everybody else.
So you've actually kind of done a really shitty thing here. Natalie.
[01:17:41] Speaker A: Just wanted one person to tell the truth. And you see, like, there's like a locket in, like, the center and stuff.
And, like, I, like, I just kind of got desperate and was looking for anything, you know?
[01:18:02] Speaker E: Okay, well, how about the next time that you have a desire to make somebody tell the truth, how about you just ask them instead? And if they don't tell you the truth, then they're just an asshole and they don't deserve your time.
Barring that, you know what I'll give you? I'll introduce you to my friend Paolo, and he's a psychic and he can give you all the answers that you seek.
They. Excuse me. They can give you all the answers that you seek.
[01:18:29] Speaker A: Really?
[01:18:31] Speaker E: Yes, absolutely. It does cost money because he is a poor college student, but, you know, I mean, no more than all these candles and things cost. So.
[01:18:41] Speaker A: Ari, are you also entering the room?
[01:18:44] Speaker D: I was. It's funny, I was actually just about to say I was not entering the room. But both Jen and Natalie just hear just this quiet voice chirping in. Yeah, ritual candles are not cheap.
[01:18:59] Speaker E: Yeah, she's right. They're not.
Palo is much cheaper.
[01:19:04] Speaker D: And, like, I poke my head in, like, under gens.
[01:19:07] Speaker E: I'm just like, hey, Natalie, that's Ari.
[01:19:12] Speaker D: Hi. Actually, we were about to go and get ice cream. Do you want to come with us? I hear ice cream is great for breakups. Just ask Jen.
[01:19:20] Speaker E: At this point, I'm going to turn and I'm going to just stare daggers at Ari.
[01:19:27] Speaker D: Oh, yeah, yeah. Jen got broken up with two. I think they're really salty, but. Oh.
[01:19:37] Speaker C: I'm looking at November. I'm like. I'm going to try to say quietly. Did they get affected too?
[01:19:42] Speaker B: Yeah, I'm looking around. Is. Is every.
[01:19:45] Speaker A: Who's.
[01:19:46] Speaker B: Who's glowing now? Who's every.
[01:19:48] Speaker A: Everyone. Everyone is glowing.
[01:19:51] Speaker B: Everyone.
[01:19:51] Speaker A: You've walked into the giant beam of light.
[01:19:54] Speaker D: I just give Jen just like the apologetic shrug.
[01:20:01] Speaker B: I. I think that this truth spell is me. Is lowering my tact. I guess I'm. It's. It's removing tact as well as the ability to lie. And I'm just kind of going to look at Ari and just be like, well, tell us how you really feel, Ari.
[01:20:23] Speaker D: Oh, like, about what? Like, I mean, the two of you really need to get your.
[01:20:30] Speaker C: They weren't being serious. You'll need to talk about this right now, please.
[01:20:34] Speaker D: Anyway, what's your favorite ice cream?
[01:20:36] Speaker B: No, actually, please, please tell me what you think I should do.
[01:20:41] Speaker D: Oh, I got nothing. I. But. But the. The.
[01:20:45] Speaker B: The.
[01:20:45] Speaker D: That's going on between you and Jen. Like, there. There's. There's some. There's some weird going on.
[01:20:50] Speaker E: And.
[01:20:50] Speaker D: Natalie, what's your favorite. What's your favorite ice cream?
[01:20:53] Speaker A: Strawberry.
[01:20:54] Speaker D: Great. Come with us. We'll get you some strawberry ice cream.
[01:21:00] Speaker C: My hand is on November's shoulder. Just like forgetting ice cream, I think.
And at this point we're all hearing. I'm gonna poke my head in. Hey, I. I will talk to you for three after this.
[01:21:21] Speaker E: This is Paulo.
[01:21:22] Speaker A: Hi, Paolo.
[01:21:25] Speaker C: I. I will definitely talk to you after this.
[01:21:30] Speaker A: So, Jen, just. Just give me.
[01:21:33] Speaker E: You're. You're. You're psychic, right? Paulo, tell her you're psychic.
[01:21:40] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. Come on, Paulo.
[01:21:41] Speaker A: Tell everyone you want to lie. Give me a. It's a willpower role. Feel free to spend drama points if you really, really wanted to succeed.
Give me your drama.
[01:21:52] Speaker C: It's an 11. It's an 11.
[01:21:55] Speaker A: You can twist the truth.
You can kind of. You can. You kind of skirt around the truth with an 11?
[01:22:06] Speaker C: I look at Jen and I look at them. It's like I could tell you things about yourself that you have not noticed yet.
100. That's something that I could do. The. The. The relationships suck. I get it, but this is kind of.
Magic's a lot to deal with. I know. My friend was being a little mean by saying, like, this is, like, a stupid thing to do. Your relationships suck. Just like, you know, I understand why you want to do this.
But hey, maybe you just needed someone to go talk to and we could be those people you go talk to. Maybe not. Jen. No offense, Jen, you were just a little mean.
[01:22:49] Speaker E: I. I don't. I didn't say anything that wasn't true.
[01:22:54] Speaker C: So we could go get ice cream now.
[01:22:57] Speaker B: The spell isn't broken, though.
[01:23:01] Speaker A: Let me break it.
Give me a. A strength kung fu roll.
[01:23:09] Speaker D: I'm sorry, what?
[01:23:11] Speaker E: Okay.
Yeah. So that would be 21. So. Extraordinary.
[01:23:20] Speaker A: Extraordinary. Like, you're probably getting a little more agitated as things go on and as you're trying to wipe the. Like, if you use your boot and like, rub this chalk away and you just sort of crack several of these. This. A little bit of this concrete flooring.
[01:23:43] Speaker E: Yep.
[01:23:44] Speaker A: And yeah, you've. You've broken the ritual circle now.
[01:23:49] Speaker E: Great.
[01:23:50] Speaker B: Is everyone still glowing?
[01:23:52] Speaker A: It's fading quickly, but you. Probably a minute or two more before it's. It's gone. As you all can feel the release of power, it's like your ears pop and, you know, you sort of. You've got a few minutes. If anybody really wants to ask somebody a question.
[01:24:15] Speaker C: I'm gonna run in and take those directions.
[01:24:18] Speaker A: And I'm just like, look.
[01:24:19] Speaker C: Okay. Hey, look, these. We need to get rid of these properly.
Where did you find this? Looking at Natalie.
[01:24:27] Speaker A: Google.
[01:24:33] Speaker B: I'm. I'm gonna look at Jen and go.
Do you still feel like telling the truth?
[01:24:44] Speaker E: Yeah.
[01:24:50] Speaker B: Will you.
Will you always hate me?
[01:25:04] Speaker E: The opposite of love is not hate.
[01:25:13] Speaker B: I don't think I'm hungry anymore.
Have fun getting ice cream.
And I am going to head back to my dorm.
[01:25:32] Speaker A: Yeah. You all feel the magic dissipate, and after about three, four minutes, you can start lying again.
And I imagine you make quick work of leaving.
[01:25:54] Speaker D: I'm just going to make sure that the spell circle is properly cleaned up and evidence disposed of.
[01:25:59] Speaker A: These are. You know, you could take these ritual candles. They're like pretty. Pretty big, and they didn't burn down that much.
[01:26:04] Speaker D: I'm. Look, ritual candles are not cheap. I'm gonna take them.
[01:26:07] Speaker A: Oh, yeah, yeah. It's. You're sure this can't be used? You know, there. There were some ritual, like, components that were burned and the whole thing. So, you know, you take the little bowls from the cafeteria that, like, has the ashes of the things that were burned and then leave the building. There are.
There's a. There's a. There are firemen trying to figure out what was going on, and you all kind of like sneak off before anybody can, like, realize that you're some of the last people out of the building.
[01:26:51] Speaker D: Don't worry about it. Everything's fine.
[01:26:59] Speaker A: I'm sure ice cream is going to taste so nice.
Oh, yes.
[01:27:04] Speaker C: Yeah.
[01:27:05] Speaker D: Everything will be fine.
Everything is fine.
[01:27:13] Speaker A: You. You all. You'll get like a. A message from Catriona and just ask. The message is just what happened?
[01:27:26] Speaker D: Tristel.
[01:27:30] Speaker A: Nasty Parker.
[01:27:37] Speaker C: Well, I will reply.
Well, do you want to join us now for ice cream?
[01:27:45] Speaker A: And you'll get a.
Sure. I have information to share anyways.
[01:27:52] Speaker C: Cool, cool, cool.
[01:27:53] Speaker D: Lord Drop. Lord Drop. Lore Drop.
[01:27:56] Speaker C: They're chill, I think.
[01:28:00] Speaker D: Getting chiller.
[01:28:01] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
[01:28:07] Speaker D: And I look up at Natalie with no context, like, because obviously this is textings and it's like she wouldn't have any context. But I'm like, right, Natalie?
[01:28:14] Speaker A: It's. It's. Sure, sure.
[01:28:17] Speaker D: Excellent.
[01:28:21] Speaker A: And November, you. You're heading back to your dorm?
[01:28:26] Speaker B: Yeah, probably. Yeah, probably a little crying just a little bit. You know.
[01:28:39] Speaker E: As. As you're heading back. For the record, Jen does not, for all the reasons said before about not wanting to go into work, is not going for ice cream either.
But will text November, like separately.
And the message just says we should talk, period.
[01:29:10] Speaker A: Do you reply?
[01:29:11] Speaker B: I. Yeah.
I have to take a moment to think of what exactly to say, but I think I eventually respond.
I agree.
[01:29:32] Speaker C: Well, I'm taking to this new girl to ice cream because we said we would.
[01:29:35] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:29:36] Speaker C: And that was the truth.
[01:29:37] Speaker D: Looks like it. Just you and me, Palo and Natalie.
[01:29:40] Speaker C: But got.
[01:29:47] Speaker A: Just say you leave November. Jen, are you going to have this conversation tonight or is this gonna be a time for conversation for later?
[01:29:59] Speaker E: Oh, I think this is an episode three conversation.
[01:30:02] Speaker B: Yeah, sounds great. I think I was thinking that November might try to get some sleep beforehand. But who knows if that sleep will actually be restful. It might just be. Be more.
I don't know, maybe. Maybe. Maybe the dreams will reveal something that would be useful for the conversation.
[01:30:31] Speaker A: So Paolo and Ari and Natalie and Catriona all enjoy some ice cream. It's very nice.
You are both told that she has. Gideon is sending her some of the Slayer's things just to see if we can get anything. If you can get anything from them.
And depending on his availability, he may try and fly out here because he's got information. So any information he has, he's offered up to you to this group.
[01:31:14] Speaker D: And I do drop off outside Jen's door.
Her.
Her mint chip with the lid.
And I just do that thing where it's just like I. I put it down. I knock on the door And I walk away.
[01:31:34] Speaker E: Door opens, picks it up. Close the store.
[01:31:40] Speaker C: Paolo knows November's favorite ice cream because they've been getting ice cream for them at this ice cream shop for, like, the past year.
But they know that November is probably gonna sleep, so they're just gonna take it down and put it in their freezer.
[01:32:00] Speaker D: Everything is going great, y'all.
[01:32:03] Speaker A: Yeah.
Tell the truth.
[01:32:07] Speaker E: One word for it.
[01:32:09] Speaker A: Yeah. The first day of class. Successful Question mark.
[01:32:18] Speaker D: We only got into two minor scraps. Only one.
People are only dead in one of them. So, you know, I think it's a good. I think success.
[01:32:28] Speaker A: Yeah. Yeah. Well, for any of the other questions, as we said, that seems to be an episode three. We've already had our drama quotient for this episode, so we gotta save that for next week.
[01:32:45] Speaker E: Oh, yeah, you gotta leave him on a cliffhanger, right? It's not. You gotta keep him coming back for more. Can't get it all away so early.
[01:32:53] Speaker D: The screen cuts as ice cream turns into a monster and eats us all.
[01:32:57] Speaker B: No surprise.
[01:33:00] Speaker C: I've seen this episode of Courage Ice.
[01:33:03] Speaker E: Cream Monster the whole time.
[01:33:05] Speaker A: So, yeah, that'll bring us to the the end of episode two.
And I will let my cast tell you a little bit about them and where you can find them on the Internet. We'll start with you, Saffron.
[01:33:25] Speaker B: Yes, I am Saffron Hefty Gaub.
My social media handle pretty much everywhere is Owpefta, which is my last name backwards, not backwards. Reverse the hyphen. Yeah.
And I am also part of Midnight ceremonies media, which you can
[email protected] and I realize, I don't think I've mentioned this. I'm also part of the Rainbow Roll Network and my shows are Midnightmare. Midnight ceremony shows are part of the Rainbow Roll Network, which is a group of LGBTQ actual play shows. It's very cool. So you should check us
[email protected].
[01:34:12] Speaker A: And next we have Dusty.
[01:34:15] Speaker C: Hello, I've been Dusty. You can find me online almost everywhere at Dust E. Hill. At least places where I want to be found.
I do a lot of stuff with Aubry, so you can find me at Goggles and Gays. Last of Eden spices.
I play 2024. Seems to be the year of me being incredibly edgy. Edgy except for Paolo.
Paolo is not edgy. Paolo is just a rat bastard. And I love them.
But yeah, you can also check out Unwavering Forest, which is a Star wars podcast using Pathfinder 2nd Edition. We're gay. Someone is A trash man. Someone is sad. Multiple people are sad. Actually.
[01:34:59] Speaker A: They'Re multiple.
[01:35:00] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Actually, fun fact. Also part of the Rainbow Roll network. I forgot about that as well.
But yeah, I do so many things. Games on itch, being gay online on everywhere. I guess Aubrey will tell you more about our goblins and gay stuff.
[01:35:19] Speaker A: Yeah. And next we have Jen.
[01:35:23] Speaker D: Oh goodness, that's me. Hello, I am Jen. You can find me on pretty much all the socials that people use at Jenburb.
Other than other than when I am playing a friendly, peppy, slightly too over sherry, sometimes slayer. Truth spell. I play truth spell.
You can find me helping to run things over at Girls Run these Worlds, an AP channel dedicated to uplifting the voices of women and femmes with a priority on diversity and intersectionality. You can also find me every other week over on the loremistresses channel playing our game of Thrusian odyssey based on the setting Theros playing a very rare thing for me which is a wizard. I normally play the smacky Stabbies, but yeah, that is me.
[01:36:14] Speaker A: Hey.
[01:36:15] Speaker E: And V.
Hi friends, it's me, I'm V. You can find me on the Internet at V is for Vampire because my name is V and I like vampires most of the time you can find me here at Queens Court Games doing all sorts of Queens Court Games, things like art and.
Oh, sorry, I just saw chat. Jan just posted Buff V the vampire lair and now I just.
[01:36:42] Speaker A: You need to change your socials real quick.
[01:36:44] Speaker E: I'm going to go. Yeah, I have to go change all of my socials until this show is done because that's beautiful and perfect.
Yes, but like I said, you can find me here at Queens Court Games doing all sorts of Queens Court Games thing. I do art, I am in shows, I show up on role playing, public radio once in a while.
Every once in a blue moon I show up over on Red Moon role playing and yeah, I don't know, hollowed haven't studios. I'm pretty much just like everywhere. So if you want to keep up with what I'm doing at V is for Vampires, probably the best place you're gonna find me. And obviously again, Queens Court Games enscourtrpg on Twitter or Queen's Court games everywhere else because Twitter still has character limits for usernames and that's just silly.
But last but not leastly, we have to give props to our amazing director for this evening. Aubrey. If people want to hear more about stuff that you run or games that you play in, where can they do that.
[01:37:49] Speaker A: Well you can check me out everywhere on the Internet at the Mad Queen or Mag Cosplay depending on the site.
As you said Technical Director over here, Queen's Court. You know you hear music on a thing. I probably helped on it at some point.
You know, see me in various things over here you can catch me on Goblin Gaze where I am the Forever GM pretty much over there I. You know we have the complete Blood of Kings. It is a 3 year 150 episode Pathfinder 2e campaign inspired by Greek myth, Greek and Norse myth. And then we have just sort of timed at the Dark Star which is just Pathfinder but bloodborne and last of you devices, Vampire, the Masquerade and you can catch me also a lot of times over on Hallowed Haven playing in various World of Darkness things and anything else. Just check my socials and you'll see me posting about it.
[01:38:53] Speaker E: Yeah, awesome. Fantastic. This game has been great and I think we are all going to head over to Patreon to do a little postmortem here. That'll be posted. It should be live. You should be able to watch it right now over on our Patreon. If you're not subscribed right now to our Patreon. First off, why, why not rather. Second, you can go do that. You can go fix that right now and experience, experience all of our behind the scenes shenaniganery for for yourself. So I think this is where we are all going to say goodbye. Thank you of course to all of the patrons who are currently subscribed. We could not do this without you. Much love to all of you and yeah, we'll see you next time. Bye for now.
